Yea or Nay: Spool Bookcase/Coffee Table

We've had they yea or nay discussion about spool coffee tables before. That argument sort of ended in a toss up. Opinions ran from 'garbage-in-the-living-room' to 'love it'. So, how about this version? Casters make it moveable. Dowels turn it into a bookcase. Yea or nay???

The image is from the September 2011 issue of Country Living, which is on news stands as of the writing of this post. It's also available on Zinio.

I love it! There are plenty of ways you could decorate it if the person doesn't like the wood look too!

I obtained several large spools a few months ago and made something almost identical to this with the intention of selling it. What price would y'all suggest for something like this?

Yeah for a kids playroom!

I'm usually fairly indifferent to spool coffee tables, but I LOVE this.

yay!! maybe a night stand

I'm with you on books make any idea better, but I'd have to dress it up, fill cracks and add veneer and MCM style legs, a bit if I were to use it inside our current home. I can see it on our sleeping porch once we close it in with windows though. It would be perfect between a couple comfy reading chairs that's for sure. So it's a definite YAY from me.

yayayayayayay! i love this. i love decorating with books...and this actually looks fairly tidy. did i say yay already?

@jenn--books DO make everything better. Something my Nook can't do. ;)

I am not a fan of regular spool coffee tables - as seen in the previous post - but I think this is absolutely adorable. Bookes make everything better!

I like it - and I think it can be updated to suit whatever style. Paint it with a high gloss enamel paint in red or black, add glass to the top - and you've got something much more modern!

I think it is really a cool idea for people who like cottage, shabby shiek and or old world decorating.Way to recycle ! Thumbs up !
