The legs of a treadle sewing machine find new life supporting a desk. Interesting reuse, no?

I was inspired by this post last year and decided that it was a great idea for the White sewing machine we've had in our family since the 1970's. It was a long, involved process as I wanted a large desk and I wanted to also incorporate the drawers from the sewing machine. Well, it took about six months and my husband's help, but we managed to create an AWESOME 5 foot desk, with the original six drawers. The longest part (and maybe the most fun) was trying to find a piece for the top. I was adamant that it had to be a piece of reclaimed wood, just to make the project a total reuse project. I found an old coffee table for $20 at a Goodwill which on vacation (the hubby wasn't too thrilled to be hauling that home but he did) and removed the top. I'm even using the orginal treadle as a paper tray. :)  Thanks for the inspiration to keep this wonderful piece but make it into something I could use every day.

EJ--Pictures when it's done, please. ;)

I have an old sewing table stored in the shed. That now that it's warmer will be on the clean out list. I have been thinking I wanted to turn this into a computer table for my main living area, now, I see that it's not only an interesting idea, it's a great idea. Yet another project...Thanks Mave. EJ
