Curbly Giveaway: Win a Silhouette SD Digital Cutting Machine (A $300 Value)

By: Chrisjob Nov 16, 2010

Anyone interested in art, design, or crafts has likely developed their scissors skills into a science. You know exactly where to start a cut, how to keep it straight, when to bring it down to nail that curve...

And still, it's never quite perfect. There's those little jaggedy edges from where the cut stop and started again, curves that become a series of straight lines rather than a fluid motion, and then that cursed guideline that will never completely erase. Sometimes, that's the look you're going for - handmade, crafty, perhaps even a bit juvenile.

But sometimes, it's not. This is where the Silhouette SD comes in. It's a digital craft cutting machine that allows you to customize and design a variety of different products; be it from home decor, or custom made fabrics and apparel, to paper crafting.  Some of the machine’s features include:

•  No need for cartridges
•  Any font found on your computer can be cut (right out of the box)
•  Ability to create your own shapes either from clipart or with drawing tools
•  Ability to select shapes/images from an online store (somewhat similar to i-Tunes) and purchase one-by-one for as little as $0.99 per image
•  Will cut as long as you would like at one time
•  A new heat transfer line for apparel and home fabrics
•  Print and cut functionality-ability to print whatever you want to a computer and then place the print job in the machine and cut around it

Yep, you heard that right. It can cut any font, meaning alphabet stickers in your typeface of choice, can cut personalized vinyl wall decals, and can print onto heat transfer material to make your own fabrics.

Imagine the possibilities.

I love that machine, but have been unable to find one. Do you have a list of retail locations?

So much fun! If I had one of these, you can pretty much bet that everything in my apartment would be labeled. How cute would my baking cabinet be with little "cocoa" and "whole wheat flour" silhouettes on the containers?

Keeping my fingers crossed!

Hi everyone - our contest winners are always contacted directly via the email they provided when they entered, so as to maintain our privacy policy.

Still trying to find out who won...I keep checking the homepage. It has to be announced right?

Curious whom won the Silhouette SD. Has anyone found who won?

I would love one to etch glass with

I would love to have and I would dedicate it to you.

Ok. So I'm not the only one. I came back to see the results, but no winner is listed. Umm... ok. I supposed if Ed McMahon isn't at my door holding the Silhouette its not me right?

I can't find who won anywhere. I see where you congratulate them, but no name. So...who won?

I would love to win this!!!

Congratulations to our winner, and thanks to all those who entered. Don't forget, if you love the Silhouette, you can still get $100 off by taking advantage of the promotion listed above.

I NEED this! I WANT this! This would make me infinatly happy!

I would be whipping  out the rhinestone tees for my girls!  They love them:)

I tweeted this @moebecca

I would make everything! I would love it for girls nights and for activities with my toddler.

I would go crazy with the heat transfer!

The Silhouette ROCKS!!!!! From what I can tell this would be a wonderful addition to anyone's home. I would loveto add some wall designs to my home.

i have 6 sisters, we all get together and make crafts once a month just to get away from our kids, husband's and everything that reminds us of any kind of work! but it takes forever for us to cut things up!  i would share this w/my sisters and we'd be able to actually finish at least ONE craft by the end of the night! lol... that is my answer: i would share this w/my sisters and my 8yr old daughter who is into crafting and hold "girls night in" craft nights at least once a week! yaaaay!!! *crossing my fingers n toes*!!! :)

This sounds awesome.

I have a ton of collage projects that are just lacking in cutouts, and I have been wanting to make vinyl wall decal picture frames for my new apartment.  This machine would be perfect for that.

OH, and I'd make vinyl wall art (on CANVAS!! Boo. Yeah.) as well as quiet books for the kids.
