How to Install a Phone Jack.

by on Mar 15, 2008

No, the telephone is not a dead technology, and it’s still a useful way to attach yourself to the web, send faxes, or, gasp, make a phone call. Danny Lipford, of the Weather Channel, offers step-by-step instructions to this apparently DIYable project.

1.To disconnect the line, find the telephone interface box which is
usually mounted on an outside wall where the phone lines runs into your
house.

2. Open the customer access panel and unplug the test jack.

3. On older interface boxes without a test jack, unscrew the terminals
and detach the wires, remembering which one went on which terminal. If the interface box isn’t easily accessible, take another phone on
the same line off the hook to prevent it from ringing while working on
it.
