I can only imagine that this project is a labor of love, since each piece of scrap felt has to be individually wrapped and glued around (and around and around) itself. P.S. I was just thinking that this would easily translate to a much smaller (and less time-consuming) scale in the form of coasters or trivets! What do you think?

Thank you! I'm a geologist and this looks so much like agate or some other precipitate-formed rock adn I'm just completely delighted. I agree, though. When I'm done I may find that I don't want people stepping on it.... :)
