Felt Wall Tiles: Crazy or Cool?

by on May 24, 2011

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably noticed the wool felt craze that’s been going on the last year or two.  People are using it to make pretty much everything imaginable, from simple circular coasters to laser-cut rugs and now: geometric wall tiles!

Designed by London-based design studio HIVE, these modular tiles are made from 100% wool felt and attach to your wall with a self-stick, non-toxic adhesive.  This “wall-mounted decorative system” takes inspiration from architectural cladding and flock wallpapers.  Available in 10 colors (!!), they’re sold in packs of 22 or 6.

Personally, I love the idea of using these in a playroom, music room, or even in commercial spaces.  The real question is, of course, would you use these in your home?  If so, where would you install them?  Would you keep things calm with a monochromatic scheme or let loose with a mixture of colors?  Let me know what you think in the comments!

P.S. If you’re truly smitten with these felt wall tiles, you can purchase them through Bouf.
