Sheesh. Apologies to Mr. Shakespeare. Anyway, as you might know, our family is in the middle of a very exciting house addition (you can follow along in the Curbly House section of this site). A big part of keeping a large-scale project like this moving forward is the ability to make decisions (hopefully good ones) quickly without second-guessing yourself. Second-guessing means design changes, and that means delays.
One of the big decisions we have coming up involves our cabinetry. We’re thrilled to be working with a great sponsor, Aristokraft, for our kitchen and mudroom cabinets. Aristokraft cabinets are a solid, affordable line from the MasterBrand family. They offer flexible designs with various construction upgrades and embelishments; a good fit for homeowners who want a good value, quality cabinet without going over budget. Â
We’ve been working with Jeannine, a kitchen designer from our local Aristokraft dealer (Gerhards kitchen and bath store), and she has drawn up an amazing design for the mudroom:
That’s one wall of the mudroom. Here’s the other:
For reference, here’s what we have for the kitchen:
Now, Alicia’s dead-certain she wants to go with all-white cabinets in the kitchen. Well, at least she’s dead certain about it this week, last week she was thinking natural wood lowers and white uppers … but anyway. So now the question is, what color to do in the mudroom?
An obvious answer is … white! Sure, it would match the kitchen cabinets, but who wants to get too matchy-matchy? And also, white in a mudroom might be a recipe for very dirty base cabinets.Â
So we’re mulling over a few different options, and wanted to get some help from the Curbly community!Â
Here’s one choice:Â
That’s the Winstead door style in ‘Fawn’ (that would match the hardwood floors in the house pretty closely … but the floors in the mudroom will be tiled). Here’s another one:
That’s the Winstead again, in ‘Autumn‘.
The last one we’re considering is called ‘Umber‘:
This finish is new in their lineup, and I’ve seen it in person in the showroom; it’s a little more ‘washed’ looking than it appears in the sample photo.Â
So, what do you think? Feel free come up with your own combinations and let me know in the comments. Keep in mind, this is just for the mudroom! We’d love to hear your thoughts!
Note:Â Our kitchen project is being partly sponsored by Aristokraft. All opinions expressed in this post are my own.Â
