Before and After: Garage Turned Minimal Mini House

Sometimes a garage is just a garage and other times a garage is a miniature modern house just waiting to happen. In this case, it's the latter, which means I probably need to pack my bags, move back to Seattle and into this (now) house.

It's not actually available, but I'm just crossing my fingers that designer Michelle de la Vega needs a few roommates (my husband, my dog, and I) in her fully functional 250 square foot space. We can all fit in there, right?

In all seriousness though, this remodel is really incredible. Michelle custom built most of the furniture and salvaged old fixtures for the project as well. Here's a quick look at the inside of this shoebox dwelling.

For those who cant place the surroundings, they changed the door from front to back, the tree on the right is the tree on the left of the second picture and they added additional squarefootage to the right of the building. this is the same space, and such an awesome job, Id concider living in a little one of these full time, with a big ol garden and outdoor space.

I went to the designer's website, michelledelavega.com, and found that she raised the roof four feet. The reason the surroundings look different is because the after view shown above is of the *back* of what was the garage. Hence, the pine tree is now on the other side of the photo, and the topography seems to flip sides.

It's cute and all, but these buildings are not even close to being the same building! The surroundings are different and all the measurements are way off (hieght, width. Etc...)!

The before picture doesn't match the after pic. Can't place the surroundings either. But I like the result, just don't get out of bed a hurry or u smack your head!

My thoughts exactly Ali and How2Home. Yes, you're right Lucy. This is probably not a good fit for an entire family, but it is a really lovely space for one or two people. Don't you think?
