Getting Creative with a New HP Touchscreen!

by on Jan 17, 2013

These days, it seems like the large majority of us spend a good chunk of time on the computer, and I am no exception. In fact, I probably spend more time on my computer than the average person, usually clocking in at least 12 to 14 hours a day, between work and recreation.

So when HP asked me, recently, if I wanted to try an HP ENVY 23 TouchSmart AiO, I jumped at the chance. I was super excited to give the touchscreen a whirl, but also a little nervous, since this was my first time back on a PC in years.

Admittedly, I was so pumped to try the TouchSmart technology I removed the mouse and keyboard from my desk area almost immediately. You can use your finger as a mouse to click on what you want, right on the screen and there is a keypad that pops up on the screen as well that you can ‘type’ on. Needless to say, it’s pretty cool.

Eliminating the mouse and keyboard made things more streamlined for me, but I’m sure there are cases where I would need or want to use them. For now, having the extra space on my desk means I can display another piece of artwork and some decorative items, which is a big plus in my book. My husband and I recently moved into a new place, so we are in decorating mode right now.

Okay, so after I acclimated to the touchscreen, I started playing around in an app called Fresh Paint, a realistic painting application that simulates oils. I have a BFA in painting and drawing, so naturally, that was one of the things I was most curious about. I half expected it to be something I’d only enjoy if I was a kid, but surprisingly, I’ve used it everyday since I received the computer as a sketchpad to map out ideas. It’s more advanced than similar apps I’ve seen in the past. You can actually mix paints in it, just as you would in real life, and there are drawing tools as well for creating fine lines and notes.

After I played around in Fresh Paint, for way too long I should add, I tested out some of the other apps and then hopped over to Pinterest to gather inspiration for my HP Experience Board. I’ll be revealing my final Experience Board here on Curbly in a few weeks, and I can’t wait to show it to you. If you are attending Altitude Summit in Salt Lake City next week, it’ll be on display there, too! My Experience Board will be showcased along side several other bloggers who are also participating. Fun, right?

There are lots of other things about this all-in-one desktop that I would love to share, so be sure to catch my next post to find out what else the HP ENVY 23 TouchSmart AiO can do.

I wrote this review while participating in a program on behalf of HP and received an ENVY 23 TouchSmart AiO and other products as a thank you for my participation. All opinions are my own.
