How To: Dye Table Linens with Vegetables

created at: 08/21/2012

If you're heading out to the farmer's market this weekend, or even to the grocery store, you might want to pick up some extra vegetables for today's Foodie Friday DIY.

Victoria, who writes one of my favorite blogs called A Subtle Revelry, dyed this (now) colorful table linen with little more than a few onions and beets! How cool is that? Now my mind is racing with other vegetables this dye DIY would work with.

You can see more photos of this dying technique along with step-by-step instructions on A Subtle Revelry.

You can use foods to dye eggs for easter as well. Or just for fun at other times of the year when you're boiling them for breakfast.

Red onions in the boiling water makes brown-red eggs.

Red cabbage makes red eggs and beets also make red/purple eggs.
