She shreds paper (she ate my sister's taxes one year), tracks litter everywhere, refuses to sleep at night, sheds like crazy unless I take protective measures,* and has a little bit of a bulimia issue. I can only feed her about 1/8th of a cup of food at any one time, which she will wolf down, and 10% of the time promptly regurgitate.

Maybe it's time to trade her in for a PefectPetzzz. Battery operated, with 'real sleeping action', I could have the pug I've always wanted. Oh, and don't worry, they're 100% synthetic.

Perfect for apartment dwellers, there's no pesky security deposit (or other deposits, for that matter!)

I might be a little creeped out by these things, I'm not sure.

*Just kidding. She runs like crazy when I start up the vacuum. Hmm...with a little hotglue and Sharpie action, maybe I could mod a roomba with the siamese model so Raja would have a robot-cleaning twin, and someone to play with while I'm gone!

wow! thanks for the suggestions! she's really never been an outdoor cat but she does 'escape' from time to time.

and by tracking litter, i mean in her paws. i put down a rug in front of the litter box and that helps a lot, but not 100%.

and i can't shut her out of the room as i live in a studio.

Do you keep her as an apartment-pet and has she the access to the outdoors when she is with your sister's?

We live with a former outdoor-cat and know some of your problems. Well, one after the other:

the litter problem

outdoor-cats don't min, but indoor-cats need a designated, fresh loo-area. If she starts littering anywhere else, it's really important to clean the area (vinegar or baking soda work very well), so the cat isn't reminded of "been here, did it...". If nothing helps, the last remedy is to clean the spot and to feed the cat on it. They won't never ever combine this and that.

on bulimia:

They do have that very sensitive carnivore-stomachs. Food has to be fresh, tiny portions are better, they are over-eaters, - and they do need fibres to get rid of those tiny bones and feathers, if they are hunting. And of their own hair from cleaning themselves. In the outdoors they do this by eating grassleaves, in the indoors it's the easiest to provide a pot of grassleaves (Might be the reason for te tax-eating. To keep your cat happy, you might turn to the valeriana-species as well. They love the smell.)

Getting no sleep:

Been there before. Since then, we do keep our bedroom-door locked.

On paper:

They do try got get the fibers from it, our Gina-the-cat loves throwing them down to see us jumping. They do like the scratching to sharpen and shorten their claws (Gina finally accepted a roll of sisal carpet for doing this. After three months). And they do love to lie upon paper and cardboard.

We found two solutions:

I leave out a little of the recycling paper for Gina to scratch, and she made the transparent paper bin (IKEA Flaj) her favourite place for resting. If it's almost empty, she does look like Snowwhite, but I think that's part of her project...
