How to make a Vintage Button Art Display

I don't know many thrifters who can resist a jar of vintage buttons at a garage or estate sale. I own what must be a few hundred buttons. I use them for crafts, for gifts and for handmade cards. I sometimes find myself not using certain buttons because I want to save them. Rather than hide them away I was inspired by a piece of art in a photo from the latest issue of Ready Made. Shay Ometz and Jeff Barefoot had a button display in their house. I fell in love with it immediately and wanted to make one for myself. My 7 year old son and I spent a fun afternoon sorting through my button collection. He loved finding a certain color and adding it to our piles of buttons.

The child in me decided to organize them with a rainbow as my inspiration.

I considered using a vintage frame but instead went with a Martha Stewart Collector Box. I found five of these at Tuesday Morning for $3.99 each.

I placed all the buttons in the collector box and used Gorilla Super Glue to fasten them down. It was very easy to do.
