10 Ways To Re-charge Your Creative Batteries (on a late summer day)

The past week has caught me under the weather. The impending end of summer always gets to me in some sneaky way. It's been a relief to slow down and just lay low. Maybe I worked too had last week on that Knotty Pine Problem (which I still need to finish). I have lots of design work, sewing classes and upholstery projects coming up, but it's necessary to re-charge the batteries, embrace the transition and let the creative juices flow again.
Yesterday I learned how to really recharge on a late summer day. I reclined on a wicker loveseat with the light breeze, trees visible, temperature just right and everything I really needed right at hand. I think I'll remember that day forever. A couple of hours of quiet, reflective relaxation every month can't be all bad.
1. Find a warm, yet not too warm, chair or sofa
2. Have a good book you've been wanting to read
3. Fix a cool drink to have by your side
4. Have your laptop near in case you get antsy
5. Keep your cell phone and/or portable phone handy or out of earshot. They can really interrupt peace and quiet
6. Have a light throw blanket nearby in case you drift off
7. Have pen and paper at hand for ideas, to-do lists, things that will relieve your mind of clutter
8. Calm music in the background can quiet a noisy mind
9. A light snack
10. Solitude!
