How to Make a Wine Bottle Torch

Recycled Wine Bottle Torch

This lovely creation comes to us from Gerardot & Co. Wine bottles were rescued from the recycling bin and turned into an outdoor tiki-like torch. (It might remind you of this project, which can be used indoors.) The supplies, listed below, only cost about $5.

  • empty wine bottles
  • teflon tape 1/2"
  • copper top plate connector, threaded for 3/8" - 16 thread rod
  • 1" split ring hanger, threaded for 3/8" - 16 thread rod
  • 1/2" x 3/8" copper coupling
  • 1/2" copper cap
  • 2 hex nuts, threaded for 3/8" - 16 thread rod
  • 2 #10 x 1" zinc-plated wood screws, for wood mounting
  • 3/8" - 16 zinc plated threded rod
  • Tiki replacement wick
  • torch fuel

Absolutely brilliant!  Now I will have to find some wine in cobalt blue bottles to match my cobalt blue pots!  I think that this would also make great Christmas gift.  For those DIYers on your Christmas list, you could give them a bottle of great wine, the hardware and instructions.

Oh my gosh Maven! Now I'll have to look for wine by the bottle it comes in! I do have a large cobalt bottle with a narrow neck that just might work for this project though. Hmmmm..... if I had a full nights sleep last night I'd head into the city and get all the parts I need. Alass I did not so I'll have to wait. Great find though.
