Evolv 11 in 1 multi tool
By tmgeorgoI went to Sears today to buy a 2 gal wet-dry vac and while I was there I saw a new line of tools called Evolv. They seemed to have an design edge and improved ergonomics over other tool lines I've seen, with a non-Craftsman brand color scheme (green/grey) and plain brown corrugated cardboard packaging. Very earth tone-ish, which I liked. I was curious about them so I checked out all of the tools and decided to give this 11 in 1 multi tool a try. It's got an LED flashlight, something I haven't seen on other multi tools. I think I'll give it a work out and see if it holds up for general purpose repairs. I liked the ideas behind the tool line, but my enthusiasm is dampened a bit by lower overall quality of the tools. I hope Sears takes the quality up a notch, it'd be cool to have a good set of tools that looked and felt really good.

If you have an issue with the quality I think you need to consider what you bought.
They've been moving the house brand lines ever up-market for a long time and it's left a void for entry level long term hand tools (as opposed to disposible junk tools sold at dollar stores and other major retailers). Not everything needs to be perfect so much as a good value.
Considering the average home owner really doesn't do that much DIY anymore, I think they're okay for the market.
I have to say though, my $70 1/2" Craftsman ratchet is my favorite ratchet because it works so well, is so easy to service and it's comfortable. My least favorite ratchet is a $5 Cresent ratchet that is a total pile of junk.
My experience has been that price increases geometricaly as quality increases linieraly as you move through the spectrum of tools.
