By thedecoratingdiva Hi-energy-orange

One of my favorite things about decorating is color, and I'm excited that one of my favorites, the color orange, will still be a hot color for 2009.  Orange has been a favored color in home decor for over five years. I remember teaching a Color Theory class in May 2003, and three of the industry magazines I use for class all had orange colored products on their covers. This spring I was flipping through industry magazines, and there was Orange, front and center for yet another year. For those who are interested, here's a bit of color trivia about... »MORE

The products on the digital sample board below prove that you can have it all - beautiful home and healthy planet by using organic, eco-friendly decor. 6 Design Tips for Small Spaces

By thedecoratingdiva Coll_hawthornesmallscale_large

A small space doesn't have to be a design liability when you remember the following principles: 1. Use light colors on upholstery, walls and all major furniture pieces such as entertainment units. Use monochromatic color schemes so that the space appears to visually flow unobstructed. 2. Use glass top tables or acrylics instead of solid woods. Since the glass is "see-thru" it will give the appearance of space. 3. Opt for furniture that "floats" (recessed toe kicks, no sofa skirts, blank space at foot) it will create the illusion of more floor space. Look for sofas with low profiles and... »MORE

Successful interior decorating takes into account the entire human-home experience. It's about taking design principles a step further and melding them with the science of Human Factors to engage the five senses of sight, touch, smell, taste and hearing to create a home environment that soothes and nurtures our souls. It's the difference between a house and a home - and it's easy to create. Touch - fill your home with fabrics and upholsteries that comfort.
