Check Out: Mypantone

By terryswaler

I know there was a recent post about Pantone by DIY Maven (read it here).

I wanted to add a couple of other things that I haven't seen here yet...

First -- Pantone has come out with a home dec segment and are producing (as far as  I can tell) all 3000+ colors in interior and exterior paint.  Expect this to be expensive.  But -- they defend the price by saying that they do not use chalk or fillers in the paint and that you get a truer and longer lasting color from them.

I have some recent experiences with my dog that lead me to believe this is exactly true.  In my blog, I talk about my dog's injury (I won't bore you with the details here) -- just suffice it to say that a tail injury on a dog is very messy...and I've had to scrub my newly painted walls over and over.

The finish came off.  Now what was once semi-gloss painted surfaces looks like chalky surfaces.  They are U-G-L-Y and I've resigned myself to having to re-do the entire downstairs - trim and walls.  Sigh.

So -- the idea of paint that's eminently more scrubbable might be worth the expense.  That's all I'm sayin' about it.

A cool feature of this site is their "select a mood for your room".  I think that's pretty neat.

The other Pantone related topic is My Pantone.  When you sign up (email, typical sign up stuff) you get these AMAZING articles that you can download as PDF's.  They are created for designers of websites and publications specifically -- but the content and layout's are inspiring and exciting for all of us.

I've found their website to be fascinating and full of information not found anywhere else.  I do take issue with the COST of their products -- but the things they have as freebies make visiting them well worth the time.
