Him: (proudly) I touched up the spots I missed this morning.
Her: Good. Now we don’t have to deal with it tonight!
Him: Hmmm. How come I can see where I touched up?
Her: Must be the lights shining funny.
Him: Pause. Oh boy.
Her: Fear striking. What?
Him: I used the primer paint. Not the ceiling paint. I’m going to have to re-do the ceiling.
Her: Silence. Raised eyebrows.
Her thinking: “idiot”

Last year (yep. Not a typo) my SO gutted our kitchen. We are definite DIY'ers and this challenge, although overwhelming, was something we knew we could do.
You know how life sometimes takes sudden twists and turns when you least expect it? What? That hasn't happened to you? <laughing>
Our kitchen is still in a state of disrepair and we have few $$ to finish it.

What will we do? What will we do?

I know there was a recent post about Pantone by DIY Maven (read it here).
I wanted to add a couple of other things that I haven't seen here yet...
First -- Pantone has come out with a home dec segment and are producing (as far as I can tell) all 3000+ colors in interior and exterior paint. Expect this to be expensive. But -- they defend the price by saying that they do not use chalk or fillers in the paint and that you get a truer and longer » READ MORE

This showed up on Craigslist yesterday for sale.

The website Vanities of Yesteryear apparently combines old furniture into new bathroom sinks. Food for thought. Although I feel mixed about taking a really nice piece of furniture and altering it in that way — but - what a neat idea for something that needs to be brought back to life or is sitting on the curb waiting for you to pick it up and turn it into something new and amazing!

Original post on my blog
Handmade Detroit has created the COOLEST Valentine’s Day Wreath out of paint chips. There’s a tutorial too. I want one!
It got me started (here we go again) thinking about paint chips. Interestingly enough, I was at the paint store with my friend yesterday and I was pondering those chips and thinking about things that I could make out of them.
I have cut them into hearts and put them randomly in my kitchen win » READ MORE

I did write about this topic a couple of days ago (and many other times in my blog). But the subject continues to interest me -- and I'm embarrassed to say that I have never seen the two things I'm writing about today. It's embarrassing that someone so interested in color could have missed them! <grin>
However, I have overcome my chagrin in the spirit of passing on really interesting information -- the first is an amazing tutorial on co » READ MORE

Our rental house was trashed from the tenant we had to evict — so we had to do some major work on the house especially the kitchen — but couldn’t afford to replace cabinets, etc. So — here was my solution. I painted them with roosters.

I found these cool dishes with roosters on them from Sam's Club and took them as inspiration. Also -- I am currently in love with Clarice Cliff pottery. You can see it in the bungalows and trees in » READ MORE

I love color. But in my house -- using color is a relatively recent development. So, I've been searching around for things that would help me figure out what might work, what definitely won't when choosing color.
When I bought my house the former owner had painted the kitchen and dining room the EXACT colors of Blockbuster -- electric blue and yellow. It's made me cautious! <grin>
So this might help you if you're like me and are trying » READ MORE

I wrote about this on my blog --
but Erin encouraged me to post this to all Curbly peeps -- so here is the detail on how I use Craigslist. Hope it's useful!
I found this overview on Craiglist at Curbly — and it’s absolutely a great article and completely true.
It got me to thinking about how I use Craigslist — and what other things I’d add to this list if I were the one who had originally written it.
I’d add:
