How to turn a t-shirt into yarn.

Tee Yarn 9

The Eloominator shows us how to turn old t-shirts into yarn. (Yup, that stuff picture above used to be a t-shirt!) She uses the resulting yarn on a Weave-It Rug Loom or 'any loom on which you can weave 4 ends per inch'. I could see using it to crochet rugs, however. Maybe a shower mat...To yarnify a tee of your own, here's what you'll need:

By lilybee

created on: 01/07/09

See the lampshades behind the attractive well dressed couple? They're DIY-able! And they actually seem pretty simple. ReadyMade has instructions that are based around the kind of paper mache stuff you might have made in school.

You'll need

  • a round balloon
  • some string, yarn or wool
  • some fabric stiffener

Wood, Drill and Yarn Christmas Ornaments

By ModHomeEcTeacher

created on: 12/11/08

Wood, fiber and a drill-why didn't I think of these ADORABLE tree decorations? These are so delicously simple, I can't think of any way to improve on them except maybe to make sure to sign and date them on the back side.   You know those anxious two or three days before Christmas with kids?  Decorate cookies or drill some holes?  You know what I'd choose. » READ MORE

Creepy, Crafty Glow-in-the-Dark Yarn.

By Chrisjob

Perfect for upcoming Halloween crafts, safety, or for the emerging knitting/rave scene (it could happen....), Bernat's has introduced glow-in-the-dark yarn. Available in six shades, it'd be great from the obvious spider-web creation to full-blown crocheted trick-or-treat costumes (though I suggest you get started). I look forward to seeing some finished and fully-charged projects.

Ikea Now Does Handmade?

By Chrisjob

Ikea is offering hand crocheted cushions under its Sommar line, for $7.99.

Wait, what? A 10" hand crocheted cushion for eight dollars? Really? I'm no crochet-master, but Ikea can afford yarn, labor, and shipping for eight dollars? I know one could use a loom, but those must be some lighting-fast Swedish crochet masters with no regard for minimum wage.

Can this be true?
