By ModHomeEcTeacher

created at: 2009-04-09

Curtain hanging can become such a dilemma that some of us just give up and opt for blinds.

This Young House tackles the problem in the bedroom of eight year old, Olivia. As you can see, the trio of windows combine to make an architectural statement that you wouldn't want to cover up behind drapes. However, a girl needs her privacy.

Bubble glazing

By fontgoddess

created on: 04/15/08

Affordable and very effective. I'd pair this with some pretty asian paper or large sheet of vellum, if I wanted to conceal the main material. But, honestly, it looks pretty classy.

Extreme Vinyl Make Over With 303

By DIY Maven

Why the manufacturers of 303 Aerospace Protectant™ don’t make it available in every big box and hardware store in the country, astounds me. It is the absolute best way to give new life to vinyl. Around the house that includes vinyl windows, doors, shutters, patio furniture, spa and pool covers and the like. ?Recycle Old WIndow Weights-Uses?

By sparkie

Hi There,

I am proud to announce that I have finished installing my first replacement windows (10 now, more later this yr) in my foreclosed "Carnie Crackhouse".  (I accidentily got italics..oops) I had to replace the original 1934 single paned leaking, high maintenance windows.  Purists and maybe most designers would be mad/unhappy but I was willing to trade real wood for low/no maintenance in this case, in my part of the world.

Anyway, have (40) » READ MORE

modern transoms

By bhikkhu I'm about to move into an older house with tall ceilings; several of the transom windows above the doors are missing. I'll definitely be going for a modern look and I'm wondering if anyone has some ideas on what to do with these spaces? I'm quite sure that a lot of you will have some pretty clever and creative ideas... so lets hear 'em! And I'll definitely share the results when I'm Done.... Thanks!

The Fix Its: Shrink Wrap Your Windows For Winter

By bruno

The Fix Its: Shrink Wrap Your Windows for WinterDon't let the unseasonably warm weather fool you; it will get cold this year. And when it does, our 94-year-old house will get cold too. So I spent a few hours this weekend putting up insulating plastic film over our living room windows.

Is this the most exciting two minutes and thirty-six seconds of video you'll ever watch? No.

But it's better than a sharp stick in the eye. And it'll keep your house warmer, too.
