Weird and Wonderful?

By DaiquiriDiva

Or just plain weird?

created at: 2009-03-25

I've been looking through hundreds of art sites lately and I must say...there are some truly strange things out there.  Just had to share this one.  I DO kind of like the raindrops hanging from the ceiling though.  More pictures here.

Zoomed in Food, a Pictorial

By DIY Maven

Spotted these bizarre--but oh-so-clever--images the other day on fresh99. No word on who created them, but my compliments to the photographer.

Friendly Vegetables Centerpieces

By lilybee

I do love it when Martha brings the weird, and by weird I mean completely adorable and kooky...

created on: 12/02/08

Who doesn't love friendly, anthropomorphous root vegetables? Not me! To make this centerpiece you'll need

  • A selection of root vegetables (oooh, and I would name them... Mr. White, Mr. Pink, Mr. Blue Mr.Rogers)

NES Controller Coffee Table

By lilybee

NES. Super NES. Warm gooey Nostalgia.

I showed my sweetie Chrisjob's post on the Nintoaster and he appears to be in love. It also reminded him of something else. THIS:

created on: 09/12/08

Now I am in love too. It combines a few of my favorite themes and things; old school consoles, coffee, storage (what?), and DIY. If you put a wienerdog and a pygmy goat playing cards next to it and shifted the whole thing to Bermuda... well, that's what heaven looks like i » READ MORE

Sensory Deprivation Skull

By DIY Maven

Think of it as a kind of macabre cone of silence for one. The pod-skull measures 150 cm tall x 110 cm long x 137 cm wide and will be available in a limited edition of 10. Not for the claustrophobic. Via.

Mustachios = Awesome

By lilybee

created on: 09/08/08

Mustaches, they're dashing, debonair and a tiny bit debauched.

And Awesome.

Now you can give your hallway a soupstrainer that will make it the suavest wall in the house and guarantee it's luck with the ladies. Oh, and you'll have someplace to pop your keys. Win Win.

I, Googly.

By lilybee

created on: 08/12/08

Meet Mr. Electro Vox. His Likes include 'Listen', 'Talk', and 'Door'. His dislikes are New Fangled Entryphone Systems and smokers.

The obsolete entry system in our hallway had been bothering me for a while. It's in rather an awkward spot and I had been thinking about putting a picture or something over it, until I spotted Matt Kirkland's Googly-Eyed Project (Matt is the chap behind In Vestimentis Ursum the Creepy/Fabulous naked robot toy e » READ MORE

The weirdest buildings in the U.S.

By DIY Maven

Who would think to build a café in the likeness of a Mother Goose? Or a bulldog? Ice cream-cone-shaped ice-cream shops, on the other hand,  make perfect sense. To peruse pics of these eye-catching edifices and many others, click here.

Because waiting for the bus should be fun

By Doug Aamoth

created on: 05/29/08

Wacky Archives has some photos of seven pretty cool-looking bus stops. I'm not exactly sure where these are each located, but if we had a hollowed-out watermelon bus stop near my house, I'd probably ride the bus all the time.

There's also a pretty incredible giant-snake-meets-roller-coaster bus stop and a few very comfortable looking stops as well.

I've dropped some of the coolest ones in this post but you can see more here at Wacky Archives.

I don't know about you, but I'm gonna go to my favorite salvage place, Ax-Man, on my way home from work, and unleash one of these babies to clean my shower!

Garden Oddity (Warning: Images may be inapporopriate to some, hilarious to others.)

By DIY Maven

created on: 03/14/08

Gardening season is just around the corner, which can only mean more weirdly shaped vegetables. (Who says Mother Nature doesn't have a sense of humor?)

Castle in a Haystack? Wack!

By beccajo

Robert Fidler, a British Farmer, tried to circumvent local planning regulations by hiding his castle construction under bales of hay.

Local officials are understandably, not pleased.

Fabric Made of Human Hair??

By DIY Maven

Julia Reindell’s collection at the recent London College of Fashion Awards was made entirely out of human hair. Apparently, it created quite a stir. You know what they say about the catwalk and trends in home interiors: the latter follows the former. Could that mean human hair pillows in the near future?? Only your hairdresser knows. For more information, visit metro.co.uk.

The Rubber Vase

By DIY Maven

Weird yet playful is Henriette Melchiorsen’s Rubber Vase. The 20 x 17 x 17 cm vessel is available through Scandinavian Design Center for a very affordable 24 bucks. I wonder if it smells like new baby-doll?

Color choice includes red, black, pink and lime.

How much do you love your gadgets?

By DIY Maven

I love my stuff as much as the next guy/gal, but this might be a little over the top. It does, however, prompt the question, is there any gadget or tool you love so much as you would attach it to yourself? I mean, I have a particular fondness for my glue gun, but I’m not going to undergo plastic surgery to make a holster for it.

Cool or creepy? Picnic Style

By beccajo

Oh Gnome!!!

By beccajo

From Amelie to lawns all across America, everyone loves a good garden gnome.

But check out this scary story from Australia, where customs officials found contraband snakes and lizards inside garden gnome statues shipped over from Britain! Snakes on a Plane, anyone?

Maybe too weird, even for me.

By beccajo

I love animals as much as the next gal, and sometimes, they make me insane. Witness, my sister's cat Raja, whom I am long-term-catsitting, again.

She shreds paper (she ate my sister's taxes one year), tracks litter everywhere, refuses to sleep at night, sheds like crazy unless I take protective measures,* and has a little bit of a bulimia issue. I can only feed her about 1/8th of a cup of food at any one time, which she will wolf down, and 10% of » READ MORE
