Painting Vinyl Trailer Walls And Need Advice!

By DestinybyDefinition

If walls could talk, mine would say " I hate you, I hate you so much that I ooze ugliness because I like seeing you cringe..."

Well I'm ready to fight back. But I'm not prepared. I heard a few people say that TSP (Trisodium Phosphate) will give the vinyl a good 'tooth' for the paint to adhere to. So I guess I have to invest a good week and a ton of muscle into just scrubbing the entire house down.

But then I don't know which primer to use and wha » READ MORE

Paper Tiles

By lilybee

I know that wallpaper is one of those contentious things, what with the work that is required to get rid of it, but what if it looked like this?

created on: 12/04/08

and you could design your own pattern? and it was temporary (just attached with some bits of double stick tape) and it meant that you could have painted walls even in a rental where painting was a no no? AND it was made of 100% post consumer recycled paper? I say 'yay' to all those things.

Color-Your-Own Wallpaper.

By Chrisjob

Admit it: more than once you've thought, "I'm totally gonna learn how to screen print and make up my own wallpaper for the ultimate custom room!" Okay, well, at least I've thought of it. But, that's a heck of a lot of work and is rife for potential error.

Enter a happy medium: color-your-own wallpaper. It works just like a coloring book: black line drawings on white paper, ready to be customize as you see fit. £40.00 per roll, sold at Ninetee » READ MORE

By Tissuepapers

created on: 11/17/08

Today while shopping at one of my favorite thrift stores, I came across this amazing wall paper. So I thought how beautiful would that look in my ugly closet - I could transform my closet it to a chic boutique that would just scream put your clothes away in me! Here is how I took my closet from boring to oh la la.

Step 1

Find an ugly closet!

When I took a piece of the wood away I came across this wonderful little treasure of the past. I foun » READ MORE

Camilla Diedrich's Glorious Wall Coverings

By DIY Maven

(View of the wallpaper during the day.)

I dislike wallpaper. Truly, I think it should be outlawed. But Camilla Diedrich’s new wallpaper series  has stolen my heart. According to DesignBoom, Ms. Diedrich wanted to create a wall covering ‘which used real light without having to make use of too much technology. The design, which has a fibre optic appeal, creates a luminous floral pattern, bringing nature into the home and casting a soft glow t » READ MORE

Frame Wallpaper

By lilybee

I spotted this rather smashing Frame Wallpaper over a Graham & Brown,

created on: 10/17/08

It's by artists Taylor & Wood and appears in their Young British Talent section (*waves flag and hums God Save the Queen*) and it's $40/double roll. The blurb says that 'it's a completely interactive wallpaper - you decide what you want it to be - whether you want to put up your youngsters art, paint directly in to a frame, or put up family photos - it's up to you!'  » READ MORE

Pocket Guide to Wallpaper Removal

By ModHomeEcTeacher

created on: 09/19/08

Stripping wallpaper is one of the worst home improvement projects I've ever undertaken.  During each room, I swore I would never hang wallpaper again, but......

"Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in." Michael Corleone, Godfather III

I daydream about sitting in my favorite chair, journaling (a verb?) about my goals and dreams, in front of a vibrant retro-inspired oversized graphic wallpapered wall.  No, no, no!! I won't do i » READ MORE

Easy Wallpapering

By lilybee

Wallpapering gives me The Fear. What with the mess and the peeliness and the pattern repeats. The last time I tried it, well, there were tears, swearing and some bloodshed.

According to the folks at Real Simple it doesn't have to be that way. They have a quick how-to on using the newest, (less scary) wallpapers that abound these days, including Pre-Pasted, Paste-The-Wall and self adhesive paper.

To hang Paste-the-wall paper:

3 D Wallpaper

By ModHomeEcTeacher

created on: 09/09/08

Not only has Swedish designer Hanna Nyman created a 3 D wallpaper, it's also interactive.  Once applied, you can peel back the parts you want to dangle from the wall to create your own version of sculptured art.  She has done these in contemporary colors and floral designs.  As you might expect, Hanna is a fan of origami and has melded her wallpaper designs with her beautiful paper lampshades.  These designs are so fresh, beautiful, and interes » READ MORE

Pixel Wallpaper

By DIY Maven

A bit less in-your-face than its fabric counterpart is this pixelated wallpaper by Wayne and Gerardine Hemingway. The pixels repeat, creating a geometric pattern. Sold as a double roll, it'll  cover about 56 square feet of wall space. Available at Burke Decor for 40 bucks a roll. (Note to stencil manufacturers: Make a pixel stencil for DIYers!)

Christiaan Postma’s Calendar Wallpaper is as its name implies. Wallpaper that doubles as a calendar could be great in a business setting but I’m not so sure in a residential one. Your thoughts? Via.

Has anyone ever painted over wallpaper?

By DIY Maven

This weekend I was watching one of my favorite home make over shows–Sell this House–and my girl-crush Tanya Memme was explaining how they were going to paint over wallpaper because it had been applied to the wallboard without the wallboard being primed or painted. If they had attempted to remove the wallpaper, the paper from the Sheetrock below would have come off too. After they had painted it, the walls looked good; but, of course, this w » READ MORE

Organize your computer's desktop in three steps.

By DIY Maven

created on: 02/27/08

Currently I have 21 shortcuts on my desktop. I didn’t think that was a lot, but now, after reading Make Use Of’s 3 Steps to an Organized Desktop, I think it might be. I mean, at least 5 of my shortcuts are in my start menu, so do I really need the shortcuts? How short do shortcuts need to be, anyway? As I ponder this and other cosmic questions, I’ll let you to the article, after which you might want to check out The Best Resources to » READ MORE

Hollywood-based Walnut Wallpaper won't have a sports-themed border for your son's bedroom, or some roosters to complete your French country kitchen. They do showcase some amazing designs you won't find at your local home improvement store: modern prints from around the world, and new, smaller companies, both of which will equally make you drool.
