Spider for halloween vinyl Decal 22x22 inch Wall Mural

Although this spider & web vinyl decal ($22) from Vinyl On The Go would be PERFECT for Halloween, it's so cool, I'd be tempted to leave up all year.

If arachnids aren't your thing, how about this bird in cage ($15)? Very Raven-y, no » READ MORE

Use ConTact Paper to Make Vinyl Wall Decals

By DIY Maven

STA_0124.JPG

A while back, Instructable-er britsteiner shared her method of using black ConTact paper to make DIY vinyl wall art a la Tim Burton. The supplies she used were minimal, and include the following:

  • ConTact Paper
  • low-tack tape
  • marker or pencil
  • scissors
  • large scrap paper; newspaper works
  • plastic card, ie library, gift, etc

To see how it all came together, head on over to this Instructable. Although the Burton-esque design was great, I think I prefer the bamboo alternative that she made with the scraps from this project. How resourceful!

Painting Vinyl Trailer Walls And Need Advice!

By DestinybyDefinition

If walls could talk, mine would say " I hate you, I hate you so much that I ooze ugliness because I like seeing you cringe..."

Well I'm ready to fight back. But I'm not prepared. I heard a few people say that TSP (Trisodium Phosphate) will give the vinyl a good 'tooth' for the paint to adhere to. So I guess I have to invest a good week and a ton of muscle into just scrubbing the entire house down.

But then I don't know which primer to use and wha » READ MORE

How To Create An Album Art Wall on the Cheap.

By Chrisjob

In my wife's (then, girl-I-was-gonna-marry-but-hadn't-yet) first post-college apartment, we filled the entire area over the sofa with album covers. We used sticky-tack, but the jackets were heavy, they fell often, and it ruined the surface of many of them.

This technique is much more brilliant. It's as simply as l-shaped screws. Of course. No harm to the jackets, and it allows the artwork to be interchanged as the modd strikes you. Excelle » READ MORE

Detox Your Indoor Air

By MarvinWindows

created on: 06/25/08As we survive through “allergy season,” outdoor air issues may fill the headlines as we hear about allergens and the latest medication, but poor indoor air is just as dangerous.

According to the EPA, the air in our homes is often two to five times more poisonous than the air outside. Toxic indoor air has been linked to anything from chronic respiratory diseases to cancer.

Improving indoor air quality isn’t hard to do. Following are some » READ MORE

How To Create Wall Art With Electrical Tape

By lilybee

Electrical tape. My dad firmly believes that electrical tape can be used to fix anything, from lamps to broken hearts. I've used it here to give my balcony wall a temporary Mondrian kick. created on: 06/21/08

To do this you'll need:

  • A roll or two of electrical tape
  • a spirit level
  • a few coloured acetate sheets
  • a craft knife.

First give the wall a quick swipe with sugar soap or something, as stickiness and dirt are mortal enemies. Next roughly plot your d » READ MORE

DIY Vinyl Wall Decals.

By Chrisjob

Bold, graphic wall decals have been everywhere the last few years, but I've yet to see a DIYable option (have you? Post it below). Thankfully Danielle Thompson has taken the plunge, and done it up the DIY route.

She writes, "Really, you can create your OWN for much less money and that it's easy!

So I was like, "YES! i can do this MYSELF!" LOL. So I started searching stock photography sites a few weeks ago, found what » READ MORE

Retro American Diner Style Furniture.

By Chrisjob

The 1950's: There's the overabundance of kitsch, and then there's doing it well. Cola Red stands out from shopping mall nostalgia stores, offering fine 1950s dinette sets from original manufacturers. I'm digging on these Corvette and Brooklyn sets. Chairs, stools, tables, and full sets are available in extensive vinyl and laminate options.

LP Illusions

By DIY Maven

If you have some vinyl collecting dust, this would be great fun to try! I’m not sure if these photographs are from random individuals or if they were taken by one particular artist. Either way, they’re an interesting–and clever–interpretation of pop culture. Via Fun Tuna.

Animal Parade wall graphics

By michaelfouly

Here's a wall graphic design that I just recently finished working with. I put together a fun safari theme in a client's house. I worked with the guys at SlickSticks.com yet again and they liked the decal layout and photo that I sent them of the design. So, they wanted to use another photo of my work yet again and I gladly said YES!

The nice thing was that I used the design just as it was. I didn't have to create a custom wall decal which they » READ MORE

Daniel Edlen’s LP Canvases

By DIY Maven

Artist Daniel Edlen is one of those people who just can’t let go of vinyl. And why should he when he can use those old LPs as canvases? Portraits painted in hues of grey on the musicians’ original records, he frames his art in simple metal LP frames with the accompanying album sleeve behind. His on-line gallery is primarily a tribute to the music of the 60's and to anyone interested in re-purposing.

Extreme Vinyl Make Over With 303

By DIY Maven

Why the manufacturers of 303 Aerospace Protectant™ don’t make it available in every big box and hardware store in the country, astounds me. It is the absolute best way to give new life to vinyl. Around the house that includes vinyl windows, doors, shutters, patio furniture, spa and pool covers and the like. To illustrate 303's extraordinary ability, take a look at my in-law’s sun-bleached front door before an application of 303, which consis » READ MORE

I've been noticing that a lot of people around here have a fetish for vinyl, particularly the self adhesive variety (myself included).  Today I did some googling to see if there is a way to print directly onto vinyl using an inkjet printer and found this:

Another Recycled Vinyl LP Idea: The Snack Tray

By DIY Maven

Check out The Green Apple’s recycled LP snack tray. The UK emporium sells them for 20£ a piece, but they are very likely DIY-able. A bit more work than an LP bowl and candelabra, you would need a donut-shaped form. I’d suggest some sort of wood product cut to size. Then just position the LP over the donut and place in a low-temp oven (about 200<), coaxing down the label and the lip to form the rim of the tray as the LP becomes pliable.

Turn your photos into reusable vinyls

By badbadivy

Now, this is interesting. I'm all about the Blik, but you are limited to what they design. With Wallhogs, they will turn any digital photo of yours into a reusable vinyl, poster, or fine art print. Just think of the possibilities, you could have a life-size picture of ME hanging on your wall. Just what everyone wanted.

I'm gonna put this monkey on my wall. ;)

If you want anything larger than 48 inches, you have to have a resolution of 300 dpi, so you have to have a good camera if y » READ MORE
