Record Lamp
By Runeshai
Yet another lighting link from me... I've been wondering lately what to do with all the CDs and DVDs I've collected that haven't burned correctly and whatnot. Usually I use them for coasters, but I don't need more than 2-3, and I've got well over 30 discs.
Et voila! I found this today (all hail Instructables), and I may just try it out at some point. If only for a cool-colored experiment.

Reversible Tank Top Beach Tote (No sewing machine required!)
By simplyfunstuffIf you're like me, you probably have a lot of stuff in your closet that you never wear. Well here is a way to upcycle those old tank tops into useful and oh-so-cute reversible beach totes. And the best part is, you will not need a sewing machine (which is good, because I don't have one or any clue how to sew)!
The key to this project is to fold the fabric in such a way that you never see the fabric glue. If you do this successfully, you will » READ MORE
Steampunk Pocket Knife
By Runeshai
This is basically a DIY swiss army knife tutorial I found the other day, perusing Instructables. It's pretty cool, uses pretty standard tools, but I iimagine once you've got one of them down, you'd be able to pull off some more decently, and get creative with the tools you included. That could be a cool part - see what crazy tools you could add tp each one you made.

Recycled Paper Gift Tag Tutorial

A few months back, I wrote up a tutorial for making gift tags out of recycled present paper, and I thought it would be the perfect first project to share - now that I joined Curbly on December 26th!Haha!
So, I know a lot of you must have a bunch of this stuff sitting around, unless you're super quick to get rid of it, that is! (I can't help but confess that I wait to toss it out because I want to reuse it. I get such nice paper sometimes, » READ MORE

Upcycle: Discarded Restaurant Chair Reupholstery
By ModHomeEcTeacher
If you can find a set of sturdy restaurant chair frames, with or without torn vinyl, negotiate a price and load'em up. A local furniture consignment shop had these four stackable sturdy chairs in the corner of the basement. I stripped off the black vinyl from the seats and the upholstered panels that make up the front and back of the seat backs. To discover how to convert restaurant rubbish to kitchen table darlings.... » READ MORE
How-to: Make a Slipcovered Vase
By ModHomeEcTeacher
This easy tutorial came to my attention through Paper and Stitch when I was googling one of my past tutorials to find sites where it was picked up. Ugh, shameful self-centeredness. Nevertheless, it led me to this simply adorable vase slipcover. I'm considering some vase projects these days, so this will go in my "great ideas" folder. This also makes good use of small fabric scraps or "fat quarters" you may find at a quilt shop or fabric » READ MORE

DIY: Ten Minute Grommet Workshop
By ModHomeEcTeacher
While helping a friend with her booth for a trade show, we learned how to install grommets simply and frustration-free. If you are needing grommets installed for a craft, drapes, shower curtains, drawstring totebags or your handsewn tent, DO NOT think that a grommet kit from a fabric store will be sufficient. Try to get a semi-industrial kit from the hardware store. They are heavier duty and the pricing is more reasonable. If you really wan » READ MORE
