How to make a Sofa Wrap
By DIY Maven
If the thought of reupholstering a sofa gives you the case of the yips, you might want to consider making a sofa wrap instead. They don't involve any complicated sewing and fitting like a slipcover either. Basically, they consist of two parts: An outer layer and an under layer, which is optional.

M & M Sofa
By DIY Maven
The Tantisassi sofa kind of looks like my favorite melt-in-your-mouth-not-in-your-hand candies. Designed by Matteo Thun for Rossi di Albizzate, the sofa consists of 'strategically positioned' foam cushions over a steel frame. The cushions come with removable wool covers. If you're more of a Mentos fan, it comes in white too. Via.

There is an eclectic trend on the upholstery horizon that combines
bohemian themes with vivid, exciting colors and bold patterning. These

ancestors, but they have an essentially contemporary edge that defies
conventional authority. Read more here.

DIY ModUpholstery: Mock Tufting
By ModHomeEcTeacher
The problem at hand was those annoying, yet luxurious, down-filled back cushions. Everytime anyone would get up from the loveseat, the back cushions were smashed down, seams all askew. My compulsive self had to walk over, re-fluff, straighten and then I could move on.
Don't the best solutions just come to you in the simplest of ideas??
My first thought was to make some covered buttons and pull those through the cushions to give a mod » READ MORE
The Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde Sofa
By DIY Maven![]()
The Hyde Sofa, which is the creation of design students Pablo Crespo and Martin and Isaac Franzene Pinerio, has what might be called a multiple personality disorder. In the daylight, the sofa is uninspired, gray and boxy; but at night, it lights up, taking on a vivacious personality. Snaps for creativity and literary reference on this one. Via.

Coffin Couches
By DIY Maven
I don't want to post this. Really. I don't. It's just too macabre. However, in the interest of finding unique interior furnishings, here goes. A company is collecting used coffins that have slight imperfections from funeral homes in Southern California and turning them into couches. If you want to read more, go to Coffin Couches dot com. There, that’s it. Done. Ish.

Claw-foot Tub to Love Seat Conversion
By DIY Maven
flavourdesign chops antique claw-footed cast iron tubs in two and makes love seats out of them. Now, I think these are clever and darling, really I do, but.....I think I’d rather have the tub intact. Each piece, which they call Savon, starts at $3500 and includes an upholstered cushion in ‘sensuede’ and matching down pillows but no Mr. Bubble.
The Shrek Sofa Sleeper
By DIY Maven
This very Shrek-y sofa sleeper was inspired by Morfeo, the god of sleep. It has two ears, much like our favorite ogre, but these ears are bendable lamps. From Unica Home the sofa bed will set you back $5,580 bucks–but if you really want one, you should act soon, because Unica only has two left in stock, one in ‘orange elastici’ and one in ‘green zoom.’ Pics via Tora Design.

Noguchi sofa table?
By erika I saw this table as a tall sofa table 2 years ago at a store in the mid west. Has anyone else ever seen it as a tall sofa table on the net or in So Cal?
Chai Microsuede Sofa Bed for $360
By Doug Aamoth
This sorta-trendy yet functional Chai Microsuede Sofa Bed might make a good addition to your spare room, rumpus room, living room, or bedroom if you're into this kind of look. The fabric looks pretty soft and I bet it smells terrific.
It's a wheel of a deal at $360, shipped. Just head to Overstock.com and add it to your cart. It appears to be $399 on the site but when you go to purchase it, the price magically drops to $359 and then shipping on » READ MORE
Need Sofa Help. Modern sectionals?
By incubus_of_habitI really like the Todd Oldham La-z-boy Velerie Section. The catch? It doesn't appear to be in a store anywhere outside of manhattan. I'd really prefer to actually SIT on a sofa before buying it.
So, questions:
1) Has anyone ever sat in this couch? How was it?
2) Anyone know of any sectionals that would have the same aesthetics as this one?
3) Ideally, it'd be modern, kid-friendly, and, a bonus, an outside corner option (like the valerie).
Misfits Sofa
By DIY Maven
New for 2007 is designer Ron Arad’s Misfits sectional sofa. Its steel frame is covered by ‘injected flame-retardant polyurethane foam.’ Available through Moroso, no price is given which means it's one of those if-you-have-to-ask-how-much-it-costs-you-can’t-afford-it deals.
The Bicycle Seat Sofa
By DIY Maven
Scarabike is described as a ‘bicycle producing company’, which means, I guess, that they make bicycles and their requisite seats. Of those seats, they fashioned a sofa and stool. Extraordinary! Via Designboom.
