Lamp Inspiration
By Runeshai
As a sort of follow-up to my earlier lamp post, this one looks more practical in terms of versatility of use, but there's no tutorial. Never fear, however, because it's basically three legs, one hunged arm and a lamp, pretty simple. I'd love to try this out someday, when I've got the room for it (heh, no, I'm not kidding). If/When I do, I'll let you know! Post a comment if you've tried this or something like it. Cool stuff.

Save Money and find Peace by Embracing Artlessness
By DIY Maven

Living an artlessness life. It's exactly opposite of what we encourage here at Curbly, right? Not necessarily. At least not when you consider the art of artlessness as 'living simply and naturally', as Zen Habits defines it. » READ MORE
Ribbon Wreath
By lilybeeI heart wreaths on doors. Combine wreaths and ribbons and you've made my day. So thanks clever folks at The Long Thread for this bit O' lovely:

Yup, it is in black, cause this one was made as a Halloween decoration, but you can make it in the colours of your choice. Candy-striped cheerfulness maybe or swish red and silver, or maybe even multi-coloured with random bits from your monstrous and ever growing ribbon collection. Here's what y » READ MORE
Make Teacup Candles
By lilybeeTeacups with saucers make the world more ladylike and dainty and thus
brilliant. If you combine teacups and saucers and candles you get
either a tea party waiting for a place to happen or these:

Origami Lights
By lilybeeI heart paper lanterns. They make everything prettier and shinier and awesomely better. So I decided to make some in the simplest way possible.

Origami Waterbombs are SUPER EASY to do and can be whistled up in huge numbers while you're say, catching up on season 3 of Battlestar Galactica.
These pictures are of the finished lanterns, as I took a whole series of 35 step-by-step Origami 'how to' photos then discovered a nice simple instruc » READ MORE
The $20 (Temporary) Bathroom Makeover
By lilybee![]()
I'm going to come right out and say it. I HATE our bathroom with a
fiery passion. After living with it for a year-and-a-bit I decided that
something had to be done. Now my first choice would have been to rip
it out, burn the pieces and salt the earth, cursing all the while.
Trouble is this is a rental, and the agency might have a problem with
that.
Here's the before and after shots:

How can I create a hanging bookshelf off the wall?
By adilip Look at the photo attached. Does anyone know how that is possible? I think it is clean and simple.
Simple sundress
By bryanj I really want to try and make a simple sun dress, but I do not have extensive experience with sewing and was wondering if anyone could give me some tips. My idea is to sew something in cotton, sleeveless with a round neck, probably about knee-length. Any help is appreciated! JoannaAny ideas on how to sell this house? :)
By jrysavy
Seriously, does anyone have advice on how to get this baby sold? Realtors just don't seem to get it. I would describe it as a modern cottage. Three bedroom, three bath, 2 subzeros, wolf stove, metal roof, the works. The entire house is wired with sound in all rooms (including the screen porch and outdoor patio area with the fireplace). For the entertainment geeks out there, the home theater system puts movie theaters to shame. Heated floors (radi » READ MORE
Indoor climbing wall, ladder and rings
By jrysavy
I have two boys. And they have a TON of energy. These were a cheap purchase at Ikea, but boy do they come in handy. I hung them all in about a 4 foot area, so they don't take up much space at all. But every time the boys walk by them, they swing, climb, pull up, play games, and more. Once in a while, I have to step back and watch out for a swift kick, but having them burn some energy on a rainy or cold day (or whenever), sure helps. Hard to cap » READ MORE
Plywood Furniture You can Make
By cwpollock
We recently released a site for Andy Lee Design. He makes plywood furniture. The simplicity of this design means that it can be made by any industrious person with a jigsaw or circular saw. Virtually any type of plywood could be used and of course you could paint it as well. If you're interested in his design, check out his site where you will find a bookshelf in addition to the coffee table pictured above.

By NimueThis idea comes straight out of the 1960's. It's an easy and creative way to make art from your costume or junk jewelry (any outdated & cheap stuff - nothing valuable of course) - or any other small items that are appealing to you (marbles, small toys, misc. doodads found in your junk drawer?) The examples shown here were made by my Grandmother and her sister. When I repaired the larger tree piece, I used Omni-Stick glue, but any waterproof » READ MORE
Simple, Sustainable Living - 5 Easy Steps
By benmooreDIY-Maven had a great post on dinky dwellings a couple days ago. I thought it was pretty cool, so I emailed simple-living guru, Gregory Johnson, and asked him to join! He's now one of the most proflic people on Curbly. Go check him out!
I decided ask him how we can apply some of his techniques to our own lives, even if we're not ready to downsize to a tumbleweed (his house is 140 square feet!).
Gregory, most people on Curbly probably aren » READ MORE
