Bookshelves That Turn Into a Coffin
By DIY Maven
The concept of William Warren's Shelves for Life is simple: Store your books in 'em and then, when the time comes, store yourself in 'em. Via.
Milan Design Week: Multi-tasking Furniture

'more' separating unit designed by giorgio caporaso
I've spent years dreaming of going to the ICFF in New York. However, after meeting my photo class friend, Nikki, who travels to Milan every April to buy for her store owner, my dreams have changed. Granted, the pressure to sell right now has to be excruciating, but a trip to Milan to buy furniture with someone else's dough??? Come on, let me go. » READ MORE
Simple, and completely DIYable, Box Shelves.
By ChrisjobIt's amazing how such a simple design and contruction works so well. A bit of MDF with a router run over the edges, some screws mounted to a cleat (as you can see in the photo), and they're yours for, what?, 20 dollars?

A Gallery of Bookshelves
By DIY Maven
Freshome has assembled a gallery of 30 incredible bookshelves. Some you may have seen right here on the pages of Curbly, but most you haven't. In all, a very inspiring collection.
DWR’s Opus
By DIY Maven
At first glance, the Opus Shelving System looks rather inefficient, in the realm of book storage that is, and forget about shelving alphabetically by the author’s last name. However, it sure does look cool when fully stocked. It’s made out of recyclable polypropylene, which means it can be used indoors and out, although you might not want to put books in it if you chose an outdoor venue. Anyhoo, the 39" by 39" by 14" Opus comes in white or black » READ MORE

This is a garage
Are you reading me? It's a GARAGE!
And some guy's wife went and made the floor all checkerboard and installed sissy-white cabinets and put everything all anal-retentively neat. He must be so ashamed.
Now see, I would pretend not to notice if I went to their house. Because this is just so wrong.
But Mr. I'm-Married-To-A-Martha-Stewart-Wannabe got her » READ MORE
Attention Wood Workers...Make a ‘Dog’ Bench!
By DIY Maven
NEL has created these charming dog-shaped benches. Or are they shelves? Oh, who cares...they’re as cute as hell and completely DIY-able. It looks like they’re made of chunks of 2" x 4" and/or 2" x 6". Whatever wood used, you can bet when it’s done, it’ll be your new best friend. Woof.

Attention all wood workers...
By DIY Mavencheck out these fabulous shelves by Iola Design. Their simple lines make them totally DIY-able in the stock of your choosing. When available in November 2007, the shelves will range from $625 to $650. Yeah, definitely worth a DIY attempt.

How do you DIY Invisible Bracket Shelving?
By evenstarI am in desperate need of shelves but I dont want to have all kinds of brackets showing on my living room walls. You can get ready made shelves that some how hide the means of wall attachment at places like IKEA or what ever. But they are stupidly expensive. They don't sell the invisible brackets on their own.
Does any one handy know how to make this kind of shelving from scratch? Any ideas would be appreciated.
The ellips shelves; measured drawings included!
By DIY Maven
This is odd. A website, called ellips, sells these very cool convex shelves. That’s not the odd part. The odd part is that they include measured drawings of the shelves. Knowing the dimensions of the shelves before buying them is helpful for people willing to hand over the cash for the ready-to-assemble cubbies. (The ‘Big Jim 200’ costs 1,120 Euro, which is about 1,500 bucks.) But a measured drawing for DIYers everywhere?? Score!!

Smart storage of CD's and LP's?
By Northernstar Anybody out there with an idea on how to make a smartlooking storage of CD's and LP's(Vinylrecords)? I am aware that it is a dinosauric thing to love your old albums, but I do. The number in question is aprox. 1700 LP's and 1000 CD's.Create more space
By insidesignOur bathroom has minimal space; by using the window and putting in shelves we created an area to place baskets to store our toiletries.
This project cost under $15, one shelf cut into 3 parts; 2 for window shelves, 1 for under sink + 12 small brackets with screws. We now have a place to put our bathroom things. Voila!
Build Your Own Storage Shelves
By PlanCanvas
Similar to some storage shelves in both IKEA and Target, this plan guides you in making this set of shelves from two 4x8 pieces of three-quarter inch thick plywood and 2x4 piece of hardboard. Each of the 16 boxes in the shelf is 11 by 11 inches.
Size:
Width 47 3/4"
Height 47 3/4"
Depth 12"
Main Tool: Jig Saw or Circular Saw
