How To Make A Dual-Sided Projection Screen That Also Serves as Artwork.

By Chrisjob

Fylke, like everyone I imagine, wasn't too keen on the look of a huge boring white screen on his wall. So, he created a dual-sided screen/artwork to keep the room looking fine when not using the projector.

1) Build the frame.

2) Cover the frame (with Ikea curtains...clever)

3) Create artwork

4) Impose art onto the screen.

5) Paint it up and hang it!

How to Re-Screen a Window/Door

By DIY Maven

Ripped screen doors are not acceptable. Not only do they look tacky, they aren't doing their jobs of keeping out bugs. So, in preparation for the upcoming warmer weather, here's a quick video showing us how to replace those tattered screens. (Can't see the viewer below? Go here.)

Eyecatching Wall Dividers from Water Bottles

By fabulouslygreen

created on: 02/28/08

Klein Dytham Architecture designed this space for the Danone Company whose main product lines include Evian and Volvic water–using their products as design material for the space.

The Concept:

Translucent screens were made to create special zones for seating, and meetings in an otherwise open plan office. Empty Evian bottles were strung on wires stretching from floor to ceiling like beads on a string.

The Fab Factor: Though it’s not cle » READ MORE

Need Your Clever Ideas

By ModHomeEcTeacher

We just made a clean sweep of the greenery and holiday stuff and the same old dilemma is staring me in the face.  I won't divulge how long we've lived in this house, but will share that I have never been able to figure out what to do with these two big sliding glass monsters.  The first image is looking from the front hallway right on through the dining room and smack dab onto the porch.  The second image is in the breakfast area off of the kitch » READ MORE

The Ab-Fab Light Screen

By DIY Maven

Not only is the Superieur Modular Light Screen fabulous, so is it’s price, and not in a good way. The 30.25"W x 72.75"H x 8.5"d ‘units’ are made of lacquered metal, PVC plastic, rubber and lycra. The system requires you to buy a main unit for 2,500 bucks; each additional unit is 1,800. For those not keeping track, the three panel divider pictured above would set you back $6,100.

Day 36: Personality Screening

By egellia
So I didn’t sleep last night, because of the PAP PAP PAP (heard it again this morning from somewhere up inside the skylight; nearly knocked me off the stairmaster).

Between the actual noise and the subsequent fits of wonder, the only hour of rest I got was one after which I was supposed to be awake. The first thing I did was cancel plans for tonight that I’d confirmed a month ago (I’ll see you before you go, Steph, I promise). The second thing » READ MORE

Any suggestions for an art studio?

By hilljacquard

I recently got a fairly large space in an new home, and would like to start a screen printing studio and open art studio space for some locals. It currently is about 800 square feet, well lit, and plumbed for a wash basin. Anyone have any DIY suggestions or general ideas on how the space could be used? Essentially I would like some space for screen printing, 2 cubbies for individual work, painting, drawing etc...

The space is about 850 sq. feet, » READ MORE
