Solar Power Bags - On Sale!

By lilybee

Nice bag = good thing. Nice bag that will recharge your phone or I-poodle = awesome awesome thing. Nice bag that will recharge your stuff for 40% off. Be still my heart.

Each Noon Solar bag has a paper thin, flexible solar panel on the outside. The solar panel charges a battery pack inside the bag to supply power for your cell phone or gadget. Which is just cool, it doesn't hurt that they're also nice looking and made of sustainable, decomposable materials.

Mid-Century Modern Light Fixture: Needed

By ModHomeEcTeacher

created on: 12/30/07

Hallelujah!  My husband was changing a bulb that was stuck in the socket of this UGLY fixture and he broke it!!!  Now I can look for a new fixture.  I'm looking for a new fixture or, better yet, a mid-century fixture that gives off enough light.  I'm looking for interesting ideas.  The table is staying but the chairs will be replaced.  I'm still working on what to do with the greenhouse view.

20 New Tips For Garage Sale Success

By Chrisjob

First, read this post from my good friend, BadBadIvy.

Then, check out A Yard Sale Checklist from finance blog GetRichSlowly.com. Last season, they suggested ten tips for yard sale prowess, such as:

A group sale is better then selling alone. More stuff draws more traffic.

    Do not bad-mouth your items

Be willing to bargain, but be less flexible at the start.

This year, author J.D., fresh from a neighborhood garage sale weekend, » READ MORE

Any ideas on how to sell this house? :)

By jrysavy

my house

Seriously, does anyone have advice on how to get this baby sold? Realtors just don't seem to get it. I would describe it as a modern cottage. Three bedroom, three bath, 2 subzeros, wolf stove, metal roof, the works. The entire house is wired with sound in all rooms (including the screen porch and outdoor patio area with the fireplace). For the entertainment geeks out there, the home theater system puts movie theaters to shame. Heated floors (radi » READ MORE

How to have a yard sale (and make a few bucks, too!)

By badbadivy

I was reading this post, and I realized people might benefit from a "how to have a yard sale" post. As the post says, yard sales are not for getting rich from. They're a good way to get rid of your excess crap. But with some good merchandising, you can generally make a little money from your yard sale, too.

  • Set up your yard sale in advance. Yard salers start shopping at the crack of dawn, and are usually finished shopping by noon, so having it a » READ MORE

Looking to hire an interior designer in Minneapolis

By casey

I have a condo on the market in downtown Minneapolis and am looking for someone to help me "stage" it for sale.  I have a small budget for furniture, paint or whetever we need but unfortunately my design sense is terrible.  You would have almost total freedom to do what you want.  If you have some examples of previous work, or know someone who is in the business, or want to start your own staging company and need a first client, let me know.

Yard sale shopping 101

By badbadivy

My husband would say I never met a yard sale I didn't like, but that's not exactly true. I've met plenty of yard sales with craptastic stuff in it that I really wish I hadn't even bothered to slow my car down to look at, much less stop and get out.

Even so, I do love me a good yard sale- I saw my first of the season just this past weekend, and if I hadn't been rushing to actually get somewhere, I would have stopped. Alas, I didn't have the time » READ MORE

Sales on stuff I still can't afford!

By beccajo

Took a brisk walk through my hood to return some movies (OH BTW-see Lucky # Slevin if you like wallpaper, Josh Hartnett , or purple floral towels)

Whoo! Just lost my train of thought there for a minute. Anyway-

On the way back from the video store, I walked by the local Restoration Hardware. It's located next to a Smith& Hawken. Together, they are the home stores I wish I could afford to shop at, but when they have a sale, you best watch out for Be » READ MORE

Mid-Century Modern Colorado

By creede 200611201127 While I am sure there are lots of great mid-century homes for sale in Colorado, this one is close to my heart. That's because it belongs to my Grandparents. I spent many enjoyable summers in this home learning to appreciate the classic contemporary design. The home was designed by an architect friend of there's and is a classic. They are actually trying to sell it now, as it is too big for their needs. The thing that kills me is they have » READ MORE
