By DIY Maven

created at: 2009-06-03

Study Beds allow you to turn any extra bedroom into a study and back into a bedroom in seconds. What's especially clever about the design is nothing on the desk's surface has to be moved or even disrupted when it lowers and reveals the flip down bed. Available in single and double models. Now for the downside....looks like they're only available in the UK, and they're not inexpensive either. » READ MORE

How To: Cereal Box Storage Bins.

By Chrisjob

Rachel had some fabric, and needed a project. Rachel eats cereal, and needed a reuse for the boxes. Get where she's going with this...?

We came up with cereal box » READ MORE

The Future of Fluorescent Fixtures

By DIY Maven

Nearly every office building in the entire world is plagued by ghastly fluorescent lights hanging overhead. Can’t you just feel them suck the jelly from your ocular cavities? I can. So why do people use them? Because of their energy efficiency of course. But why do they have to be so ugly? They don’t. At least Ross Lovegrove’s System X by Yamagiwa isn’t. Described as a modern, sculptural lighting system, the x’s are actually an ‘interconn » READ MORE

To get your project started you’ll need:

an old crib spring

a metal saw

screws

1" x 2" (These are needed if you are going to make your own frame, however, you could just as easily get your hands on an old, flat wooden frame and use that instead.)

drill

eye hooks

Apparently there's more to choosing a chair for your home office than going to Ikea and picking the prettiest one they have.

According to Chiropractor Rodney Lefler, DC, there are some specific things to look out for when choosing a chair that won't hate your back.

  • Seat height. Office chair seat height should be easily adjustable. A pneumatic adjustment lever is the easiest way to do this. A seat height that ranges from about 16 to 21 » READ MORE
