Free Papercraft: Mid-Century Christmas Village.
By Chrisjob
The popularity of Christmas village decorama hit the big time during the mid-century modern craze of the post-war United States, but largely, their motifs didn't explore the sharp geometricism of their contemporary era, but harkened back to a more quaint holiday aesthetic of the Dickens era.
Scratching Post=Modern Art Piece
By DIY Maven
This is Leo, a cat scratching post that looks as lithe as are the fur-people that use it. Made of Zebrawood, it's soft enough to give kitty's claws a workout, but it's hard enough to keep its shape. » READ MORE

Never say never, as in "You'd never catch me dead living in a trailer!" I'd gladly haul this little 350 square foot, fully sustainable vacay home around the country. A Very Modern Nativity Set.
By Chrisjob'Member all those times you've been curled up under a blanket, fire a-rolling with a warm mug of egg nog in your hand, and you look at your mantle, and remark... "I think the Holy Family could use more Helvetica."

Both beautiful and hilarious, these sets are handmade in Germany by Oliver Fabel. Nothing says Merry Christmas like minimalism.
Montauk Lake House
By DIY Maven
This lake house by Murdock Young is a stunner...all 4,500 square feet of it. I especially love the modern elements combined with those New England-y mainstays such as cedar shingles, painted pine board, exposed trusses and drift wood. All that white could feel a little chilly in some climes, but I'd be willing to give it a go!
Evit's Extraordinary Glass Tiles
By DIY Maven
Evit's glass mosaic and tile collection is nothing less than extraordinary. Their intricate shapes and luscious colors are undeniably eye-catching. So much so, their implementation would require a certain amount of pluck.
Kickin' Back at Dunder Mifflin
By ModHomeEcTeacher
Makes me wonder if Darryl has been getting in touch with his inner designer down in the warehouse. This furniture gives minimalism a whole new meaning. But, oh so NOT comfy. However, I am diggin' the whole minimal thing Swedish Architechtural firm TAF has going on. Can you say "thinking outside the box?"
The website is so chic-ly uber-minimal, it's hard to even discuss their designs. I guess you just have to see design, not exp » READ MORE

Fabulous and Fire Resistant
By DIY Maven
Located in Malibu, CA, this weekend get-away was designed with an emphasis on sustainability and fire resistance. Owners and architects Nick Roberts and Cory Buckner incorporated a 'noncombustible shell' and 'deep-set fire-resistant windows' into its construction. The couple's interest in fire resistance comes from personal experience. In 1993, a wild fire consumed the 4000 sf they were living in at they time. They escaped the fire with 3 carloads of belongings and moved into Cory's parent's house 30 minutes away. A week later, fire destroyed that house too.

For those city folks who don't know what a silo is, it's a large, usually cylindrical structure used to store silage. What's silage? Stuff ruminators eat. What are ruminators? I'll let you chew on that for a while. However, this particular silo serves a different purpose altogether. » READ MORE
