Mirror, Mirror on the Wall...
By MarvinWindows
Are there rooms in your house that you avoid spending time in because they feel stuffy or confined? Have you been tempted to start an expensive renovation process that includes knocking down walls to free up some space?
Well, apparently carnivals aren’t the only place to go to see mirrors create an illusion of space; it can happen in your master bedroom, as well. According to this article by Rebecca White-Glanders, mirrors can be just the rem » READ MORE
How to make a mantra mirror and start loving yourself.
By DIY Maven
I have a friend whose daughter ends notes she has written to herself with the closing ‘Love’ and her name. I’ve always thought it a wonderful way to boost one’s self-esteem. Jennifer’s Mantra Mirror seems to be another great way to remind ourselves we too deserve our love. » READ MORE
DIY Halloween: Build Your Own Haunted Mirror.
By Chrisjob
Okay, so maybe the example 'ghosts' aren't terribly spooky, but this two-way haunted mirror is a mighty fine idea, and looks like a blast to build. it works like this: "The mirror is really a box with a two-way mirror on the front. Inside the box are models or other renderings of ghosts. Since the inside of the box is black, the two-way mirror reflects the room normally, but when tiny lights hidden inside the box are illuminated, they wash » READ MORE
Bathroom TV/Mirror
By DIY Maven
This weekend I was shopping for drawer pulls in an upscale local shop, when I spotted a bathroom mirror like the one shown above. A mirror with tv in it? I knew a visit with the google was in my future. Hidden Television seems to be the premier purveyor of these tv mirror disguises. (I’m using an appearance on Oprah as my qualifier.) Their products aren’t inexpensive, as you can imagine. Prices range from 240 bucks for a 24" by 36" mirror to 96 » READ MORE

The Wooden Mirror
By DIY Maven
Daniel Rozen's wooden mirror is nothing less than remarkable. It's a collection of 830 tiny wooden panels that are connected to a camera and controlled by a computer. The panels flip with the help of tiny motors and use shadow to 'reflect' images that pass by. My simplistic explanation pales in comparison to the mirror in action. (I love the sound it makes too.) Custom Modern Mirror
By matouThis HOW-TO explains the steps I took to build a custom, back-lite Mirror. I was looking for a large mirror for a while but could not justify a custom frame for over $400.00 (not including the mirror) so I decided to make my own. The inspiration came from a picture where the mirror was placed in front of a window.
I don’t have a picture for every step (I was not planning on posting it) but this should get the message across. Also, I did » READ MORE
“Half a Portion” is just enough.
By DIY Maven
Check out Jette Scheib and Neels Kattentidt’s "Half a Portion" mirror available through the MoMA store. It has half a porcelain dinner plate attached to that serves as a shelf. The reflection of the plate plays a trick on the eye, of course, creating the illusion of a whole plate. The 17.75 h x 10.75 w x 6.25"d mirror will set you back $198 if you’re not a member and $178 if you are. Lovely.
Razorblade Mirror
By DIY Maven
Available the end of September 07 is Suck UK’s very rock ‘n roll Razorblade Mirror (75£ or 152 US). Perfect for shaving, but I can see it in seedy–I mean trendy–nightclub restrooms everywhere.
"Who's the Fairest" Mirror.
By ChrisjobCanadian design squad HX4 has come up with Who's the Fairest, a large BLACK mirror. Oooo...scary.
"Who's the Fairest" is made of a piece of 1/4" high gloss acrylic and is housed in gothic-ish vintage frame. Available in custom sizes.

Mirror that wont empty my bank account?
By StillSubtleDance I really want to buy a mirror for the living room wall in my new apartment next year. I loved a few that I saw at Urban Outfitters a while back but I just couldnt bring myself to spend the money. Any ideas for places I could find something that isn't cheap quality, but easier on the budget? I am looking for something unique, so any DiY ideas are always a good idea as well. I'm in my hometown over the summer and we have a ton of antique stores, » READ MORELittle mirrors everywhere.
By DIY MavenCheck out Sprout Homes’ Mirror Op Art. It’s an accumulation of dozens of round mirrors attached to malleable wire, which allows you to arrange the little reflectors to "catch the light, the room and the guests." At 189 bucks it isn’t too expensive....but....a trip to the craft store for some round mirrors, wire and hot glue...it just might be DIY-able.
A Room With A Barnyard View
By DIY MavenActually, the view from this window-turned-mirror is not limited to livestock. But creating it does require you to take a walk on the rural side. Less the manure.
Cold Hard Sash
First, you’ll need to find yourself a wooden barn sash window. The only place that I know of that sells these things locally, is Menards. They offer a variety of sizes including 4 and 6 paned sashes for 28 to 40 bucks. For this project I opt for a 6'er.
