How to customize a lampshade with a Sharpie

  1. Scrounge up a plain old white lampshade*.

  2. Print a pretty silhoutte to use as a template.
  3. Tape the template to the inside of the lampshade.
  4. Sit in front of a window, using it as a backlight.
  5. Use a fine-point Sharpie to outline the template.

How to Paint Kitchen Cabinets

Take a look at Amy’s cabinets. She’s posted the entire process over on day-lab diy. Sure, it was a lot of work, but if you follow her steps, you could get the same fantastic results. This is the Cliffs Notes version of what she did:

  1. She removed all the doors from the cabinets.
  2. Then Amy removed all the hardware. 
  3. She sanded the glossy finish off the cabinets and doors with 220 grit sandpaper.
