Decorating living room in black and white

By mikkee

Designing in black and white colors is always the game of contrasts. Usually people use white color for the room walls and black for some furniture pieces. A lot of contemporary funtiture manufacturers choose that colors for their latest collections. Natuzzi is one of them. Here are some great examples of how living room could be decorated with their furniture in b&w:

HELP ME: Interior design ideas!

By ukmusicfreak

When we moved into our home almost 5 years ago we just used my furniture and didn't go out and buy new stuff. It looks pretty good, but I'd really like to make it more user friendly. Right now we have a fairly oversized sofa, chair and ottoman, as well as a too large armoire/entertainment unit in the room. Our problem is that really only two people sitting on the sofa can see the tv. That's fine, since it's only my husband and I (and our 11 month » READ MORE

My Own Personal Green Acres

By beccajo

I'm a bookstore junkie. So much so, that friends know to look for me at our local Barnes and Noble if I'm not answering my phone. My idea of a perfect day is to snuggle up in one of their comfy chairs with a caffiene and sugar laced beverage, and bliss out on home decor magazines and books.

But lately, I've noticed a shift. I've found myself being drawn more frequently to Country Living and Mary Engelbreit, than to British Elle Decor or Metropol » READ MORE

Coffee Table Briefcase?

By DIY Maven

Yes! Tiny Living, an on-line retailer devoted to those who live in tiny spaces, features a very clever portable coffee table ($179) that "folds itself into a case when not in use." It closes to 18"w by 14"h by 4.75"d and opens to a generous 28"w by 18"d by 18.5"h. Unfold it for cocktail parties and tuck it away in a closet–or under a piece of furniture–when the festivities are over.

Any ideas on how to sell this house? :)

By jrysavy

my house

Seriously, does anyone have advice on how to get this baby sold? Realtors just don't seem to get it. I would describe it as a modern cottage. Three bedroom, three bath, 2 subzeros, wolf stove, metal roof, the works. The entire house is wired with sound in all rooms (including the screen porch and outdoor patio area with the fireplace). For the entertainment geeks out there, the home theater system puts movie theaters to shame. Heated floors (radi » READ MORE

$150 couch? Sold.

By badbadivy

I posted about our futon beginning to break here before. My husband was on vacation last week, and although I prodded him gently about getting to work building something, he didn't. So, on Friday night, my dog was the straw that broke the futon's back.

My husband and I were sitting on the futon watching television when the my 10 pound dog, Tiny, jumped up on the couch and the back of the futon came crashing down. We, of course, laughed that he » READ MORE

Plywood Furniture You can Make

By cwpollock

Plywood Coffee Table by Andy Lee Design

We recently released a site for Andy Lee Design.  He makes plywood furniture.  The simplicity of this design means that it can be made by any industrious person with a jigsaw or circular saw. Virtually any type of plywood could be used and of course you could paint it as well.  If you're interested in his design, check out his site where you will find a bookshelf in addition to the coffee table pictured above.

Organizing your clothes

By jflogo

I was just wondering how people have their clothes organized or stored.

Right now, I'm a student staying in college dorms, but I'm moving out next spring.  Once I do that, I don't want drawers or have everything really in the closet.  I've always wanted things kind of set up like a clothing store on tables displayed, well except my underwear of course.  Of course, I would need to still conserve space.

What do you people have going?

Blood Red Sun

By EmilyJayne

So here's my warm, cozy place with color.  The living room is a beautiful sashay red (Behr), as you can see.  It faces east (on the west side of the house) so the south sun floods in come morning.  The way the color glows and warms is like no other. It's like emotion on a wall, mixed with eyecandy.  YUM!

Simple Living Room Update with New Pillow Covers

By wideopengate

My favorite way to change up my living room decor is to add new pillow covers.  It can update the room surprisingly quickly.  Here's a pattern for the easiest pillow covers you can imagine.  You don't even need a sewing machine, you can do this with a little hand stitching and "stitch witchery".

Firstly, Ikea sells really cheap pillow forms and even has one (IRMA) that's 14"x 14" for 99 cents.  This is a great size for a sofa.  So I'll base » READ MORE

Simple, Sustainable Living - 5 Easy Steps

By benmoore

DIY-Maven had a great post on dinky dwellings a couple days ago.  I thought it was pretty cool, so I emailed simple-living guru, Gregory Johnson, and asked him to join!  He's now one of the most proflic people on Curbly.  Go check him out!

I decided ask him how we can apply some of his techniques to our own lives, even if we're not ready to downsize to a tumbleweed (his house is 140 square feet!).

Gregory, most people on Curbly probably aren » READ MORE
