A Mug with a Cookie Shelf.

By Chrisjob

Pure. Simple. Genius.

"The Mocha Dunk Mug is the ideal cup for you if you like a couple of biscuits with your tea or coffee.

With the original, dual purpose dunking mug there's no need to juggle with a plate and cup and of course, you also save on the washing up afterwards"

And, there's a southpaw version for left-handed dunkers!

Purchase it here.

Wooden Electronic Ruler.

By Chrisjob

"You gotta just love when something really old gets revamped with a modern twist...Little to no detail has been provided about the conceptual project, but based on the pics I’m gonna say it is actually functioning.  Placing the pencil on the sensor will provide a digital readout of that point’s length and to give it that authentic ruler feel they’ve added a transparent wood facade."

I'm in awe....

except I'm not sure how useful the decima » READ MORE

Interactive Ping Pong Table/Virtual Aquarium.

By Chrisjob

pingpongplus.jpg

Craig Wisneski, Julian Orbanes, Ben Chun and Professor Hiroshi Ishii from MIT were quite busy. Ten years ago, they created PingPongPlus, an enhanced version of the classic game that "features a "reactive table" that incorporates sensing, sound, and projection technologies. Projectors display patterns of light and shadow on the table; bouncing balls leave images of rippling water; and the rhythm of play drives accompanying music and visuals » READ MORE

The Lap Counter.

By Chrisjob

Dateline: Thanksgiving 1994(ish). Twelve-year-old Chris, in his holiday best, is betasked to peel the potatoes. Not wanting to miss the parade, I sneak the trashcan into the living room, and get with the de-eying. Meanwhile, the sous chefs continue to toss out the unusables into that spot where, you know, the rubbage bin is "supposed" to be.

The Tea Bag Coffin.

By Chrisjob

"Where do tea bags go to die?" Your saucer? Napkin? Awkward pile with sugar packets on table?

Nope, says Jonas Trampedach. Give it a proper burial where it belongs, under your teacup.

Clever, useful, and just macabre enough.

RIP.

Spaceless: Hideaway Deck Furniture.

By Chrisjob

Designer Sandy Lam is a master of the obvious but the not yet done, what some may call the "why didn't I think of that" approach. Case in point: Spaceless, deck furniture requiring no storage space. Goodness, I hope this is DIYable. I have high hopes...if I ever get to own a deck. Via.

sQuba: The First Underwater Car.

By Chrisjob

"More than 30 years since Roger Moore's 007 put the idea into every guy's head, someone has finally replicated the underwater auto experience. Swiss design company Rinspeed has created the sQuba ($1.4 million), the world's first submersible car. Based on the Lotus Elise (it was a Lotus Esprit in The Spy Who Loved Me), the all-electric convertible can drive you to the lake in style and then dive underwater to a depth of over 30 feet. The car's eng » READ MORE

Hide your wires behind crown molding.

By Chrisjob

"WireTracks CM kits turn regular crown molding into removable wiring channels that you can use to hide low voltage or electrical cables (check your local codes). They can be used for simple jobs such as getting wiring from the front of a home theater to the back. Or, they can be installed throughout a building to give building owners the ability to run wiring between any two points that are l » READ MORE

Bicycle Lawnmowers.

By Chrisjob

What a brilliant idea. And apparently, all sorts of people have imagined a bicycle/lawnmower combo, and had the skills to make one.

Treehugger has assembled a fine collection:

Pee Funnel

By Chrisjob So, here it is. It's a funnel, and you pee in it. Or, to put it more properly,

"Gold Man is a toilet accessory that enables a regular toilet seat to be adapted to become a urinal for men avoiding the unhygenic practice of urinal spillage during toilet usage. It is also a useful addition in case of sudden need for those suffering from nausea.

Gold Man is easy to store on its own plastic base close to the toilet and may be lifted in place as and when » READ MORE
