Steampunk Pocket Knife

By Runeshai

created at: 2009-07-23

This is basically a DIY swiss army knife tutorial I found the other day, perusing Instructables.  It's pretty cool, uses pretty standard tools, but I iimagine once you've got one of them down, you'd be able to pull off some more decently, and get creative with the tools you included.  That could be a cool part - see what crazy tools you could add tp each one you made.

How garlic can neutralize odour

By infektia How garlic can neutralize odourGarlic wasn't only used to be 'placed by the ancient Greeks on piles of stones at cross-roads, as a supper for Hecate' (Wiki) and isn't only used in tasty dinners (we all know how the garlic breath smells, don't we?) or for medical purposes... I just found out that garlic can be the perfect odour neutralizer. Instead of using those air-fresheners that you have in the bathroom, that nearly kills you if you spray too much, garlic does the trick wit » READ MORE

How to Antique Paper

By DIY Maven

I saw Martha "antique" paper a few years ago, and although I don’t remember her technique, I do remember that it was complicated. I played around with the general idea, though, and came up with an easy way to get the same aged look.

What You Need

A piece of paper you want to age. (I used regular 24lb laser paper. Of course, print your poem, passage of writing, and etc. to the page before you attempt to antique it.)

1/4 cup of hot, black coffee. (A » READ MORE

The Fix Its: Shrink Wrap Your Windows For Winter

By bruno

The Fix Its: Shrink Wrap Your Windows for WinterDon't let the unseasonably warm weather fool you; it will get cold this year. And when it does, our 94-year-old house will get cold too. So I spent a few hours this weekend putting up insulating plastic film over our living room windows.

Is this the most exciting two minutes and thirty-six seconds of video you'll ever watch? No.

But it's better than a sharp stick in the eye. And it'll keep your house warmer, too.

Drawers to Walls: Earring Frame!

By beccajo

As a jewelry designer, I end up with a LOT of earrings that don't sell. That's fine with me, they end up becoming part of my own accessories wardrobe! But I need a good way to store them that keeps them from getting tangled or lost.

I used to have a chest of drawers with a top pullout section for jewerly, but I really prefer being able to see all my choices at once.

What to do, what to do?!?!?!

If you're a bike-commuter, you spend a lot of time in the saddle. So why not give your home-away-from-home a bit of your own personal style? Well, creating a pimped-out ride like the own below isn't as hard as you'd think, especially with these detailed instructions from Instructables.com.

Please don't do this to your bike.
