How to make a Kandle Heeter™

By DIY Maven

CraftyPod points us to the very clever Kandle Heeter™, a handmade, low tech contraption that acts as a space heater. It's a collection of terra cotta pots with a solid steel inner core made up of hex nuts and washers and things, which collect the heat of a candle or, new for 2008, a halogen light bulb. You can buy the candle version for $29.95 and the electric version is $49.95; however, the generous creator provides how-to instructions to ma » READ MORE

The Glass Heating Panel

By DIY Maven

From Thermoglance, these glass panels are actually electric heaters. The space-saving, easy-to-clean panels can be floor or wall-mounted and install via an electrical outlet. With no moving parts, noise and breakdowns are nearly eliminated. As for safety concerns, their surfaces reach about 75 degrees Celsius. For more information, visit Thermoglance.

Then, in 1973, Mike Haefner tweaked Ben’s baby and created the first certified biomass fuel stove. The improvement lay in the fact that Mike’s creation burned biomass.

By alexrussell

Hot water is the kind of thing most people don’t think a bit about until it’s gone. Just like anything else that carries water, a hot water heater will rust and leak if left alone long enough. Eco Aware Design.

By roadvermin Came across this wonderful design collective a few days ago they are called Static and are from northern Europe which seems to be a the center of the design world at the moment. They create a range of concept products designed to raise your awareness of the amount of energy you use in your home. Many of the items you see on their website make electricity usage and heat loss more visual. I think they have been featured on boingboing and treehugger
