Picture Perfect Glass Etching with PnP Blue Transfer Film

By DIY Maven

If you're like me and are unfamiliar PnP Blue Transfer Film, it's basically an acid resist used when etching metal. It's sold in 8 1/2" x 11" sheets that can be put into your laser printer. This remarkable feat lets you photocopy ANY IMAGE onto the sheets thereby producing very detailed images. You then apply the sheets to your surface and etch away. But that's not where the coolness ends! Etsy contributor daniellexo decided to use PhP to etch glass, and it worked marvelously. Take a look:

How to make reused glass frames.

By DIY Maven

Shannon Quimby was ruminating over some windowpanes leftover from a French door and came up with this slick framing project, the cost of which set her back about a dollar.

What you'll need:

  • Two pieces of leftover glass--either from an old French door, windowpane or even from unloved picture frames.
  • 4 heavy-duty rubber bands (!)
  • Something to frame.
  • Epoxy glue.
  • An eyelet picture frame hook.

The proceedure is so simple, you can probab » READ MORE

The Moustache Glass.

By Chrisjob

When I was a kid, I refused to drink fruit punch from a glass, because I was always afraid it'd give me that lipstain red moustache that youngsters get from slurping.

Now, there's no need, cause as long as you keep this glass to your face, no one will ever be the wiser.

The most clever use for the martini glass since the cosmo!

By swelldesigner

created on: 08/05/08

Recently at a friend's wedding, they had a mashed potato bar and it was super yummy.  They used a martini glass to serve it up and I thought this was one of the most clever buffet ideas I had seen in a while.  They had the works to the side of the fluffy potato goodness - gravy, sour cream, bacon bits, cheese, chives, and salsa.  I thought this was not only a great idea for a wedding, but for a future dinner party or evening gathering!

How to Drill Through Granite, Stone, Cement, Glass...etc.

By DIY Maven

Recently my buddy Don was presented with a conundrum. A friend of his needed to drill seven 1/4" holes through 1 ½" thick granite. His friend had burned up 3 masonry bits trying to get the job done before he gave up. Don then reached into his bag of tricks and pulled out a whopper.

To perform this feat-of-nearly-magic, you’ll need:

A plastic cap that’s at least 3/4" deep. (Those from a medicine bottle work particularly well.)

Included in Erin's list of Go Green without Going Crazy was the company Ice Stone.

One of a few companies to be certified Cradle to Cradle *, Ice Stone is basically a replacement for any surface where marble or tile might be used.  Glass is embedded in a concrete-type material, and then finished as you choose.  You can even ship your unused materials and old surfaces back to the company to be reused!

While glass is still relatively easy t » READ MORE

SEW Versatile

By ModHomeEcTeacher

When you're at an auction, estate sale, consignment shop or a favorite vintage furniture store, don't pass over a sewing machine table with a giant rectangular hole in the top.  All you have to do is get a piece of dark glass cut to fit on the top and you might just be lucky enough to have yourself a small-ish, but functional desk with plenty of drawers and nice lines if you find one that was made in the 1960's.  Check out the two identical table » READ MORE
