"Don’t get us wrong. We like crafts.

We just don’t like these crafts."

Sometimes, there's mistakes in makes...and then there's just bad tas » READ MORE

Etsy's Shop-By-Color Page

By DIY Maven

created on: 12/23/08

Was I the only one who didn't know about this cool feature on Esty? It's their 'Colors' page, and with it you can shop by color. Just pass your cursor over the page and color bubbles pop up; click the color of your choice and products associated with that color appear. Click on those thumbnails for a larger pic with a description or throw images around. It's a really fun interactive page, even if you're only window shopping!

Ornj Bags: Recycled Construction Fencing Goes Fashionable.

By Chrisjob

Ornj bags, Ornj Totes, David Shock Designs, David Shock Ornj, recycled construction fencing, repurposed plastics, green fashion, eco-totes, sustainable style, green accessories, eco friendly fashion, Detroit designers, green design, street fashion

"Detroit-based designer David Shock...has cleverly found a way to repurpose discarded day-glo construction fencing into one-of-a-kind totes for market and around town shopping. Ornj Bags are not only eco-friendly, but also a smart way to keep the neighborhood tidy and vibrant with street fashion that allows you to go green for the long haul!"

Clever, eyecatching, and quite DIYable.

Amazingly Intricate, Handmade Felt Plush Toys by Muju.

By Chrisjob

Oh my goodness, oh my goodness. I am totally impressed with these felt creations by Etsy artists Mrs. and Mr. Muju. I don't really  know what they are, and that makes them all the more desirable. The detail is incredible, and the lines are near perfect. That's some fine scissor work, Mujus. Hooray for felt!

DIY on NPR.

By Chrisjob

Yesterday's Weekend Edition Sunday on National Public Radio featured a story on participation in the monster DIY movement via the web. Contributer Jon Kalish interviews folks from Instructables, Etsy, and Make magazine, as well as some genius DIYsters from around the web. My fave quote comes from Jay Baldwin, of the previously glorious Whole Earth Catalog:

"When you make things by hand, it's yours; there's no mystery how it got » READ MORE

Bird Wood Book.

By Chrisjob

If I had one of these "Bird Wood Books", I'd probably keep my promise to myself to journal a few times a week. From VeronicaPress' Etsy shop, "'Bird' is a 4x6 blank book bound with a coptic stitch and handcrafted wooden covers. The covers have been hand-sanded, hand-screenprinted and finished with a clear varnish to resist scratches and dings, while the pages are a text-weight Mowhawk Superfine paper. This particular book is made with ash covers, » READ MORE

What to craft, what to craft?

By badbadivy

Sometimes I just feel like crafting but don't know what to do. That's when I turn to etsy's pattern section. There are all kinds of patterns there from sewing to knitting to amigurumi crochet patterns- which is an addiction of mine, when I have time, anyway.

My particular favorite patternmaker is anapaulaoli. She has the cutest patterns and they are easy to follow, which is really important to me- I'm the very picture of adult ADHD.  Check out he » READ MORE

So, here are some of my favs, and, more importantly, the ones that I think I might be able to get away with DIYing... not exact copies (duh, that's stealing) but.... "ins » READ MORE
