Those geeky geniuses at EvilMadScientist don't post nearly enough...but everytime they do, they nail it.

Combining an LED throwie, a square of acrylic, and some Christmas cheer, they've created these edge-lit holiday cards that glow and leap off their background.

And it's the kind of tech-y project that should scare ya. Really, I think I'm going to try this one.
