Shattering Door (and more!) by Leandro Erlich.
By ChrisjobThere's something about art in context that beats the pants off of a portrait hanging on a white wall. This Shattering Door is one of many fantastic installations by Leandro Erlich, on display now at Luciana Brito. Check out a few others below, and Erlich's website for many more!
Ideas for redoing an entryway?
By DaiquiriDiva
This is a picture of the front entry on the house we just bought. It's about as un-Feng Shui as you can get! Instead of being a functional, inviting feature it looks more like a sad afterthought. The door itself was painted with a flat band-aid colored paint that shows every scuff and mark, the doorknob is cheap and feels like it could fall off every time you turn it, the porch is small and useless and the stairway is so narrow we'll barely be » READ MORE
Turn a Door into a Table
By DIY MavenNeed a table? Got a door? Problem solved. Susan found this particular door--and the table legs--at a salvage yard. Wood glue, screws, L-brackets, paint and some glass she had cut at a local glass shop rounds out the materials needed for the project. » READ MORE
How to Turn an Old Cupboard Door into a Serving Tray
By DIY Maven
We've seen a similar technique involving a picture frame, but this cupboard door turned serving tray is equally superb.
Frightfully Funky Feather Wreath
By swelldesigner
I know it might seem early, but Halloween is upon us (hey, if it's already in the craft stores, then i think it's ok to post this - wha ha ha). It is my favorite crafting holiday of the year, so I like to plan ahead a couple of months and line up some fun projects. I keep adding to my collection (you would think that 3 large bins in my storage would be enough, but no!). Anyway, I posted the supplies + instructions to this Frightfully Funk » READ MORE
How To Open a Locked Door With A Credit Card.
By Chrisjob
Of course, you'd only use this knowledge for good...like when you're smart enough to remember how to open a door with a credit card, but not smart enough to have remembered your keys in the first place. And be warned, it takes alot of work, and will ruin your card, so use an old gift card or store rewards program, which can always be replaced.
1. Slip the card into the vertical space between the door as deeply as you can, as perpendicularly » READ MORE

Terrific hardware is where [it is],, especially if you're in the mood for a fast, inexpensive way to breathe new life into a tired piece." How to find a new fridge?!?!
By heidijaneAll right so why is it that every year something has to go wrong with something in my kitchen right around the holidays?!?! Typically it's been a clogged sink (never put sweet potato peels down the drain...major clog, major problem), an oven that won't turn on (Thank God I had a double oven but it took twice as long to cook) and this year my refrigerator is on the fritz!!

I originally had appliance insurance when I bought my home but for » READ MORE
stained or painted front door?
By substance12I want to get a new front door. I also have hard wood floors. Is there some aesthetic rule that says the stain of door should/must match that of the floors?
for reference, a picture of my floors is here:

How to Cover a Door Frame
By ahmed My landlord removed the doors from their frames in the living room, but I'm not using it as a bedroom. Whats the easiest way to get some privacy back - curtains seems inadequate.Day 36: Personality Screening
By egelliaBetween the actual noise and the subsequent fits of wonder, the only hour of rest I got was one after which I was supposed to be awake. The first thing I did was cancel plans for tonight that I’d confirmed a month ago (I’ll see you before you go, Steph, I promise). The second thing » READ MORE
Day 16, Project Five: Hah!
By egelliaFirst of all, I noticed at some point since I got home that the button has fallen off my jeans, and I don’t know when it happened so I don’t know where I might have been today with my pants all hanging open. Which has nothing to do with anything, I'm just saying: this is my life.
Then Johnny got home and he said the closet door that I've been working on is, too, lighter than it was when it started, and that the b » READ MORE
How Do I Replace A Door?
By Rohn Jay MillerI have a door in an upstairs bedroom that leads to a small balcony. The problem is that the door itself is a cheapie Sears Roebuck door from the mid-70s which lacks a small window (which I would very much like, to bring more light into the room) and is also starting to get weatherbeaten.
I'm a DIY knucklehead, but I'm assuming I can't just pull the door off the hinges, go buy one I like of the same size and hang it on the same hinges, right?
cork board + 8-pocket wooden door = "tiled" bulletin door
By binary_patternthis "project" (so easy it probably doesn't merit that term) went from idea to finished product in a couple of hours. i was quite pleased with the results (see below).
things i used (many optional):
23" x 35" cork board whose frame was falling apart
my 8-pocket wooden front door (also in kind poor shape, or i woulda felt guilty about marring its surface with nails)
tape measure
fine-tip sharpie
straight edge
flat head screwdriver
hammer
nail gun with » READ MORE
Make your door more useful...magnet style.
By jrysavy
You could do this on any door, but it worked out really well on the closet doors in my kid's room. The sheet metal is held on by 6 screws and then to avoid warping, glued with some industrial type glue. Pretty cool and pretty darn useable.

Cheap Christmas Decorating: Gift Wrapped Door
By DIY Maven
Although we don’t see it often up in the northland–probably because of the snowstorms and such–I’ve heard down south it’s quite popular to gift wrap your front door for the holidays.
A novice at door-wrapping, I consulted the experts. Here’s a blow by blow to get the job done.
Supplies Needed
The same stuff you’d use to wrap a present, only more of them. Although, the instructions I found made a point of stating that it’s important t » READ MORE
Are Sliding Closet Doors Extinct?
By kiddynomiteThe reason I ask is - I can't find them anywhere. When I started looking I figured they would be everywhere from designer stores to Lowe's and Home Depot at very reasonable prices - whomever - I found one place in NYC who would do them custom for $1,000 a door. I was thinking, not so much. Anyone have a clue where they are hiding?
Ohh, while I'm thinking about it, I did find some room dividers and it would be easy to put them on tracks and use t » READ MORE
