Ceramic Decals, Like A Facelift For Plates
By lilybeeReplacing your whole dinner service might be out of the question
what with the scary economy, but for $6 you could give it a visual
tweak, like this:
These Ceramic Decals from The curiosity shoppe are "steam, heat and water resistant," and apparently they're "guaranteed to last until you're ready to peel them off". If horsies (and other farm animals) aren't your bag they also come in these Leafy and Birdy patterns
Driftwood/Twig Lamp
By lilybeePottery barn has this gorgeous Driftwood Lamp $529.99 on sale (it's down from $799.) but that is still rather a heap o'cash.

If you've got some time (about two months) to fully dry out your materiel's you could attempt your own version with twigs...

or even driftwood if you're lucky enough to be near a large body of water. BHG has a how-to to help you along
You'll need:

'Wood' Lampshade Inspired by David Trubridge
By lilybeeDavid Trubridge's Coral lampshade has been around for a while. I saw it first in Elle Canada and it's been popping up everywhere (it's in this month's Domino, where they have labeled it incorrectly as being a Arne Jacobson piece). While it barely registered at first I am now completely consumed by it... wake-up-at-four-in-the-morning-thinking-about-it style consumed. The trouble is that I don't have $500 to spend on a lampshade. So I have » READ MORE
Lace Chair... The Beta Version
By lilybeeI wanted to share a project that didn't work out as well as I hoped, but that I still think has potential.
So. I saw one of these chairs in a furniture store window and instantly fell in love. In real life they are even prettier, they're translucent, so it looks like the lace is just hanging there in the air. Beautiful.
So beautiful, in fact that I was prompted to drag myself and the kid's buggy up a great big flight of stairs and into th » READ MORE
Make a Little Birdhouse (Lamp) in Your Soul....
By lilybeeAhhhh *nostalgic sigh*, They Might Be Giants.
Avians seem to
be a theme with me this week. Inke Heiland, the dutch designer whose
wallpaper birds I just posted about, is also the creator of this bird house lamp.
It's very cute and would look good in a small persons room or a hallway but $325 is a lot of money for 'quirky'. I figure it has to be DIY-able with say, a MYO Birdhouse Kit ($12.95) and the Hemma cord set ($3.99) from Ikea. Or yo » READ MORE
The BIRDS!
By lilybee
I saw these delicious wallpaper birdies on a post over at Ohdeedoh just before I went away and instantly wanted them or something like them, so instead of packing like I should have been I bungled together a DIY version, using Origami Paper and this website here which has lovely anatomically correct birdy silhouettes.

You can probably figure it out yourself but what I did was:
- choose a bird whom I liked the shape of, in this case » READ MORE
Pebble Mat
By lilybee
Just finished this mat to go with my Bathroom Redo. It has a
peculiar providence, I was mooching around the CB2 website, doing a
little window shopping and I spotted this fellow for $39.95
Me: 'Hey, I had that idea too!' I just didn't get around to doing it!"
My Sweetie: "So you're saying they stole your idea from inside your head?"
Me, kinda indignant: "YEAH"
Him: "Would you like me to make you a tinfoil hat?"
Crazy aside, here's how I » READ MORE
