Bubble Wrap Screen

By Shari

created at: 2009-05-03

I love this idea for a dividing screen. This bubble wrap is silicon filled, but I want to make a greener (if not green) version as a headboard covering.

Roomboxes!

By designbyphoto

Philadelphia based artist is designing interiors by recreating each space as a miniature, artistic Roombox!

The box has peep holes that she can photograph the miniature room through.  The box can then be ordered as art for your wall.

You can see some of the interiors here: (scroll to second video slideshow)

How to Save $11,644.07 on a Designer Lighting Fixture.

By Chrisjob

EdWinston and his wife, like you, were amazed when they found the $12,000 lighting fixture pictured here:

So, like any good DIYsters, they made one, for a tiny, TINY fraction of the original cost: $55.93.

Read about their process here. Via.

Lace Chair... The Beta Version

By lilybee

I wanted to share a project that didn't work out as well as I hoped, but that I still think has potential.

So. I saw one of these chairs in a furniture store window and instantly fell in love. In real life they are even prettier, they're translucent, so it looks like the lace is just hanging there in the air. Beautiful.

So beautiful, in fact that I was prompted to drag myself and the kid's buggy up a great big flight of stairs and into th » READ MORE

Arne Jacobson at McDonald's?!!!!?

By lilybee

created on: 08/04/08created on: 08/04/08I spotted these on my way through Dublin airport, and was torn between abject horror and abject 'huh?'.  Around here the decor in McDonald's is heavy on the beige plastic, bolted down chairs and despair.

When I spotted these Arne Jacobson-style chairs, I looked around for an Italian Cafe or posh sandwich shop, but there was no getting round it, they were the McDonald's seating area.

Smart Lamp....

By lilybee

It's called Smart (Actually it's got those dot thingys over the 'A' but I don't know how to do them on my computer) and it is...

I Found this fellow whilst perusing Ikea for a desk lamp. I was astounded. It doesn't look like a 20 Dollar lamp. It looks well, designery. It comes in various different patterns and it's mouth blown, and awesome.

Philippe Stark

By Ken Hoyt

starck-chair.jpgstarck-juicer.jpg

Recently in the New York Times the iconic Philippe Starck was celebrated with fabulous short film and collage. Critic (and new editor of Sunset Magazine) Allison Arieff gave him rather thorough (and public) spanking in her blog entry, Starck Raving. She may have a point but when Ms. Arieff was likely still in college I received a potent lesson in the power of architecture when I first walked into the lobby of the newly opened Paramount Hotel i » READ MORE

Design It and Do It Yourself Polka Dot Pooch Leash

By ModHomeEcTeacher

created on: 03/04/08

Lured into the dog bakery by deceivingly yummy smells, I stopped short to take in the entire wall of  "designer" collars and leashes.  My initial reaction was that I could easily make a knock-off of these colorful accessories.  But then a light bulb went on, I realized anyone with a sewing machine can design and make their own leashes.  So...here it is, easy as pie, which happens to be the name of the green and white polka dot fabric by Moda--A » READ MORE

Modern Convertible Furniture

By fabulouslygreen

I’m a veritable addict for convertible, collapsible, multifunctional pieces (like the modern murphy beds we all went crazy for last month). So falling in love with designer Akemi Tanaka’s furniture collection was inevitable:

The Tagei is available only through the designer. Personally I love the striped fabric she’s chosen for upholstery, but it can be upholstered using other custom fabrics if you request it.

From Catwalk to Kitchen: The Couture Cooker

By DIY Maven

Britannia, located in the UK, specializes in high-end ranges. It’s no surprise that their ultra fabulous cookers now include a couture line. ‘Inspired by Avsh Alom Gur’s signature designs from the catwalks of London, Milan and Paris’, the ranges scream ‘I have haute couture taste and a butt load of cash.’ Prices for the uber-chic ranges start at £4,899, which is about 10K US.

Help me identify this desk? please?

By bhikkhu

We came across this desk at an antique mall a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, someone had purchased it just a few minutes before we had gotten there.

The back part (letter boxes and compartments) actually hinges backwards so that you can have a full flat top desk. When you lift it up (as pictured) the back of the desk has paper sized compartments for storing additional paper.

It's pretty brilliant, and I love the look... but I don't know anyt » READ MORE

Move over, Kelly Wearstler!

By erinloechner

Looks like there's a new gal in town: Sherrill Canet. Her work SCREAMS Viceroy, but without the glamour and glitz, adding to the new line of both affordability and feasibility for us "normal people."

Loving it. Thanks, DesireToInspire

Tired of the same old pillows you see everywhere??

By madebygirl

If you're looking for decorative pillows, these pillows i've designed are fun, edgy, bright and very rock n roll.  Tired of the same crafty looking pillows with flowers ? These exclusive designs are hand-painted, some have faux suede, others have golden antique brass studs etc. These are perfect  if you want to add some color or attitude to your home, boutique or reception area.

Looking to hire an interior designer in Minneapolis

By casey

I have a condo on the market in downtown Minneapolis and am looking for someone to help me "stage" it for sale.  I have a small budget for furniture, paint or whetever we need but unfortunately my design sense is terrible.  You would have almost total freedom to do what you want.  If you have some examples of previous work, or know someone who is in the business, or want to start your own staging company and need a first client, let me know.
