Decorator's Folder

By lilybee

Martha has a 'Doh! That's-so-obvious-why-didn't-I think-of-it' idea for keeping track of your decorating stuff. The decorator's folder. What you do is keep swatches of paint, fabric and carpet in a folder. Revolutionary! Martha suggests a small accordion file but you could go crazy and have a file for each room.

Taking the idea and running with it I have added:

  • Window measurements in both metric and imperial (cause my maths is lousy)

New Online Interface allows Virtual Decorating

By Imagekind

I just came across this site today. It is a website that allows you to virtually decorate a room using pre-selected products from some of the big name brand stores.

Though the interface is a litte strange, I did think it was an interesting idea for poeple to play around with items before they purchase them. They can see how it looks in a room and what it would match with.

rethink wallpaper

By erinn

Accent walls are a great way to add color, depth and interest to a room without committing yourself 100% to a bold or bright color, since it is much easier to repaint one wall rather than four.  But instead of a red wall, which is so popular today, why not try wallpaper for your accent wall?

In previous years, great wallpaper patterns and colors seemed to be available largely only to trades people and designers and were really expensive.  But j » READ MORE

Decorate Moroccan Style

By decor8

Originally published on my blog, decor8, 1.23.07

I'm hearing lots of buzz about the Moroccan look, derived from Hispanic-Moorish style influences, bursting with warmth and energy. Before Canadian House + Home spotted the Modern Moor as a hot trend for '07, I was already seeing it popping up here in the states and last year, over in Germany, too. H+H says that the Modern Moor look avoids "busy" ethnic interiors by "modernizing the classic motifs an » READ MORE

Shredded Bliss Wall or Art on Canvas Project

By decor8

Originally published on my blog, decor8, on 1.16.07Shredded Bliss!

I found a fun and inexpensive DIY project in the Budget Living "Home Cheap Home"book last night (it's amazing what you discover when you sort through your bookcase). I've flipped through it so many times and never came across page 139 until it nearly hit me in the face last night as it flew off the book shelf, landing with DIY project, Shredded Bliss, looking straight up at me. This is the cooles » READ MORE

big bed, new room

By erinn

We got our new bed.  It's a king size.  I am still not conviced about the bigness of it all.  King beds scream "Toll Brothers subdivision house" or "master suite" to me.  And I am still not used to sleeping so far away from DH.

That's the bed.  I do love our sleep number mattress though.  I have not had the lower back pain I did before.  Gosh, I sound old!

But I am still amazed at how different our bedroom looks and feels without the  cano » READ MORE
