Pretty Pretty Paperclips!

By lilybee

I like having painty, mod-pogded hands with chipped fingernails and saw wielding calluses, they make me feel all curbly-ish and like I've been DOING stuff.  But girly? Not so much. BUT I reckon a pretty paper clip rose ring would make even my paws look dainty.

Make Teacup Candles

By lilybee

Teacups with saucers make the world more ladylike and dainty and thus brilliant. If you combine teacups and saucers and candles you get either a tea party waiting for a place to happen or these:created on: 11/20/08

Teacup Candles! Guest blogger Kate over at Design*Sponge made these lovely little fellows.  So cute, and I think they might be what ModHomeEcTeacher was talking about in her post about repurposing thrift store stuff to make gifts.

How To 'Make' Soap Cupcakes

By lilybee

created on: 11/18/08

I love the idea of making soap but am totally scared off by the complex-science-molten-fat part. These cupcakes are super easy to do, as technically you reshape soap as opposed to making it.

Before we start I have to say that I know the 'icing' on these is pretty lame, certainly no Bakerella creation, but that is more to do with me than the technique. I am infamously horrible at cake decoration. Every cupcake I've ever made has looked l » READ MORE

Eames Rubber Stamps

By lilybee

Want 12 Eames classics for $13.57? Done.

created on: 10/25/08

The only catch is that they might be a bit, well, 2-dimensional and OK sure, they're only a few inches tall, but really, aside from that they're perfect in every way. This set, available from Amazon includes all the iconic pieces and the various motifs too. If you were, say, intending to make your own wrapping paper this holiday season you could do worse than a MCM theme.

Mr. Happy (aka the Smilecup)

By DIY Maven

The only way cocoa and a cookie could be any better is if they were served on this grinning guy. The Smilecup by Psyho is actually a plate with two eyes and a half a cup for a mouth.  Via.

Ribbon Up Your Bathroom

By lilybee

Realsimple has a cute way to use up the squillion meters of ribbon that you might happen to have tucked away. (Compulsive ribbon buyer? Moi?)

created on: 10/08/08

Whip your old shower curtain hooks off and replace them with lengths of ribbon, tie them off and snip the ends at an angle. Practical? Maybe, maybe not, but it's cheap, has big impact and it's super easy to change when you get bored.

A spot of the same ribbon sewn onto the bottom of a few hand towels wo » READ MORE

In honour of Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, (which b.t.w is awesome and adorable) here's an uber-cute and COMPLETELY simple way to wrap mix-tapes (sigh... remember tapes?) for your best girl (or guy)

created on: 10/06/08

You'll need:

  • A square bit of paper, 12"x12" (or 30cm) I've used velum scrapbook pages, 'cause they were exactly the right size and purdy.

I'm not sure what I would make out of this fabric, but I adore it nonetheless. From Alexander Henry, Perfect Pattern is available in tea & red and pink. The 100% cotton fabric measures 44/45" wide and comes in at a very reasonable $8.95 a yard. From Pink Chalk Fabrics.

Softie Book Ends

By lilybee

This weekend in Toronto was genuinely rubbish, wet and windy and yuck. The sort of weather that kicks good intentions in the pants. I had meant to Clear, Organize and generally Improve my closet spaces this weekend. (18 months is more than enough time to acquire a bunch of stuff). Instead I curled up reading, which lead me to make these fellows.

They are Harald and Alec, Heraldic Lions and book ends for my baby's room.
