This festive felt ornament is of the best kind of crafty projects: the final product seems intricate and complex, but the actual design simply incorporates a few felt circles and a basic stitch.

With fall upon us, gourds are soon going to be in abundance -- and with a bit of creative flare, these natural wonders lend themselves to a variety of natural decor projects.
Here's one I can't wait to try -- the gourd lamp.

You could do this as a standing table lamp or hang it, just depends on the hardware you have/purchase. Then you just need a dried gourd and a dremmel tool, some acrylic paint and beads if you're real crafty...the sky i » READ MORE

Why do they call it "oil"cloth? Probably because the recently advertised "real oilcloth" that is all the rage is made from cotton fabric covered with a petroleum based coating. However, genuine oilcloth, the real thing grandma had on her kitchen table was made from cotton duck, canvas or linen that was

Letter and number decopauge jars

Here's a fast and fun decopauge jar idea that looks really cool and graphic. I'm a big sucker for bold letters and numbers. I love large letters for walls and pillows with giant numbers on them. I don't know what it is...I just love the shapes! I guess my fondness for letters and numbers graphically is attributed to being a graphic designer. I love fonts!

Mercy, how I do enjoy this lamp. Made of stuff procured from the Dollar Store, it cost a measly 5 bucks to complete. Here's your shopping list:

When a certain big Swedish apparel retailer decided to offer a home collection including a hand drawn looking button pillow, it started my wheels turning. It looked completely DIY-able and the collection isn't available in the United States so, what the heck. Here is a step-by-step » READ MORE

I figured out a super easy (and let's just say cheap) way to make my own mini Moo cards from postcards (seen above) that would otherwise be thrown away.
I know you've seen the cute little Moo Cards you can get through Flickr. I just love them so much I got some made a year or so ago and let me just say, they were many a conversation starter! I would show friends or people I just met and each little card I showed them to pick from was like telling » READ MORE

I'm so close to the end of my Master's program that I have begun to covet and pre-plan my upcoming free time. In my procrastination, I stumbled across thelongthread.com. Ellen's site has given me ideas for quite a few small projects I will undertake as soon as my looming deadlines subside. She offers a lot of links to sewing patterns, as well as tips and tricks, which are always welcome.

One thing leads to another when you travel through blogrolls and then you find coffee filter wall decor from Jennifer Jafarzadeh, a former lifestyle editor for Redbook Magazine. As with the plate arrangement here, the trick with the filters is to tack them to the wall in a way that looks artistic and airy, not contrived. » READ MORE

I
wanted to create something special for my nephews and niece for
Valentine's Day now that I'm so far away. I really was struggling with
an idea, but when I went to the beach, the idea popped into my head to
write their names in the sand in a heart. I was going to make cards out
of this, but decided to put them in frames for them to display in their
room. I hope it reminds them that though I'm far away, I still love
them very much an

Tonight
I decided to create swell valentine's utilizing trash (literally, not
smutty images like you were probably thinking...ha ha) that I had on
hand. I took the flyers and coupons I got in the mailbox and cardboard
packaging that I would have normally thrown away and made one-of-a-kind
Valentine's (along with some stuff from my existing craft stash) that I
hope to give to someone special.
Here's a little rundown of how I made it happen...

Looking
for a quick, personal craft this holiday season to make that is also
really super cool? Create a one-of-a-kind photo bracelet for that
special someone using photos of images they love or of photos of people
they love! The above photo was taken by my friend Chris.
He actually came over last year and we crafted up a few for him to
wear. I think he dug making them and it only took an hour or two! Also,

I know it might seem early, but Halloween is upon us (hey, if it's already in the craft stores, then i think it's ok to post this - wha ha ha). It is my favorite crafting holiday of the year, so I like to plan ahead a couple of months and line up some fun projects. I keep adding to my collection (you would think that 3 large bins in my storage would be enough, but no!). Anyway, I posted the supplies + instructions to this Frightfully Funk » READ MORE
