Suitcase Furniture

By DIY Maven

Suited Case by Erik De Nijs2 Suitcase Furniture by Erik De Nijs

Inspired by the tired traveler, Erik De Nijs created 'Suited Case', a collection of luggage that fashions a couch. Put together like a puzzle, the four suitcases create a comfy--and familiar--place to sit while you're waiting for your connection. Baggage fees might be an issue, however. ;) » READ MORE

Couch Arm Cup Holders

By Runeshai

created at: 2009-08-09

Useful, re-imaginative and darkly hilarious blog Good Rubbish came up with this idea as a birthday present for someone in their life: cup-holders mounted to the couch arms where their beloved one apparently loved to keep their coffee mugs while reading the paper.  Some quick and clever DIYing, some scrap wood and a couple of mini-plates (some ash trays might look cool) and they came up with this:

How to Sew a Couch

By DIY Maven

Teen couch from JoAnn @ www.joann.com

Sew a couch?! Yup. A cushion couch that is. A fraction of the cost of your average 'real' couch but much more interesting. Not only can you make it one-of-a-kind, you can rearrange the cushions to create different looks. To make one like in the picture, you'll need the following, times 2.

The World's Ugliest Couch!

By lilybee

We have a winner! The World Wide Ugly Couch Contest winner '08 has been announced, and she's a 'beauty.

created on: 01/17/09

Head over to check the (almost) equally delightful runners up.

At this point I should really admit that I OWN an Ugly Couch. Oh sure, the monstrosity is hidden under custom slipcovers, but a gold cabbage rose print lurks beneath. Hideous yes, but the couch's bones, classic shape and rock-solid construction were far too good to pass up.

DIY ModUpholstery: Mock Tufting

By ModHomeEcTeacher

created on: 09/06/08

The problem at hand was those annoying, yet luxurious, down-filled back cushions.  Everytime anyone would get up from the loveseat, the back cushions were smashed down, seams all askew.  My compulsive self had to walk over, re-fluff, straighten and then I could move on.

Don't the best solutions just come to you in the simplest of ideas??

My first thought was to make some covered buttons and pull those through the cushions to give a mod » READ MORE

The Aston Martin Couch

By DIY Maven

Dreaming of being James Bond...or a Bond Girl? If so, this may be the couch for you. An exact replica of an Aston Martin DB6 rear end, painted in classic Silver Birch and upholstered in hot red leather. More of an art piece than a couch, this little number clocks in at just over $7,300. At that price it should come with Daniel Craig sitting on it.

Yeah, baby.

Chai Microsuede Sofa Bed for $360

By Doug Aamoth

Chai Microsuede Sofa Bed

This sorta-trendy yet functional Chai Microsuede Sofa Bed might make a good addition to your spare room, rumpus room, living room, or bedroom if you're into this kind of look. The fabric looks pretty soft and I bet it smells terrific.

It's a wheel of a deal at $360, shipped. Just head to Overstock.com and add it to your cart. It appears to be $399 on the site but when you go to purchase it, the price magically drops to $359 and then shipping on » READ MORE

Ugly Couch

By Angela_Romo

I inherited the ugliest couch from my grandmother. Its from the seventies... and its a really ugly orangy-brown color.

But, we have nothing else, and no money to buy new. I've looked into covers but the standard couch covers don't fit it...

HELP!!!, how can I make this couch more modern and not such an eye sore?

The Q-Couch

By DIY Maven

Although it has nothing to do with James Bond, the possibilities of this snap-apart couch by FEEK just might be Q-worthy. Basically, the couch parts are sold in sections of two which you snap together to queue up seating of any length. Made of polymer, the Q-Couch is 100% waterproof and extremely light weight. A set of two will cost you about 100€ or about 138 U.S. I just have one question. Why not have interior and exterior corner pieces too to » READ MORE

Day 26?, "Project" 10: The Storm Is Over...

By egellia

I did it! I folded all the laundry and put it all away! I have a couch in my bedroom, look!

Oh, and I may have overreacted about the rag-bag. I waited to fold laundry till they came out of the dryer, so I could do it all at once. But then I realized there wasn't enough shelf space for all those t-shirts, so I asked Johnny if he had any ideas. He said "Put them in a trash bag in the basement, Hon. They're only rags."

But I thought--? You said--!

Elmo couch, flowery rug.

By beccajo

I took some pictures to post of how the place is lookin' now, then i went out and bought a new couch and a new rug. So I won't post those, here's how things are lookin' now.

It's a RED velvety sectional, from about 1960 I'm guessing, and right now I have the two pieces put together like a giant chair. It's super comfy this way, and it's mostly because I have no floor space due to boxes piled up against the north wall.

It's really, really RED.  And » READ MORE

$150 couch? Sold.

By badbadivy

I posted about our futon beginning to break here before. My husband was on vacation last week, and although I prodded him gently about getting to work building something, he didn't. So, on Friday night, my dog was the straw that broke the futon's back.

My husband and I were sitting on the futon watching television when the my 10 pound dog, Tiny, jumped up on the couch and the back of the futon came crashing down. We, of course, laughed that he » READ MORE

Can he build it? Yes, he can!

By badbadivy

I like to haunt this site  for great mid-century modern inspiration. When I cruised in today, I saw the above couch and thought, "Yo, I need this couch!" The only problem is, I'm po', so I can't afford the $1800 price tag that's on it. Not to mention, the store is in Dallas, and if I'm not driving to Atlanta to go to Ikea, I'm darn sure not driving to Dallas to pay $1800 for a couch!

Finding this couch comes at an interesting time. Our futon is » READ MORE

A few inspirations:::

By shimmyhop

au-litFirst this amazing bed by Au-Lit. The color is modern, but the shape is Louis XIV. I think the statement this would make in a reletively muted room would be incredible. Apartment Therapy posted about this and had a great deal of other style images, as well.

Amateur Reupholstery: Couch

By adorn

Earlier this year, I moved across the country, taking with me only what I could fit in my car. I lived a week without an apartment and another week without any furniture.  Then, I bought a bed.  Well, a matress and box spring.  I wasn't in any rush to buy furniture, especially not furniture that I couldn't fit into my car.  This made me the office charity case.  A coworker gave me a kitchen table and chairs. Then, another coworker found a couch o » READ MORE
