The Life Clock
By DIY Maven
Remember back to 1999 when those 'countdown to the new millenium' clocks were all the rage? My local post office had one. They people that worked there told me that customers complained about it. It made them feel ooky. Well, if that made them feel weird, then this Life Clock would put them over the edge. » READ MORE
A Modern Cuckoo
By DIY Maven

Cuckoo clocks have been around forever. They're charming to be sure, but they're also overwrought with carved doo-dads. Not the Cuckoo Meridiana, however. This little bird's abode is sleek and modern, and cuckoos on the hour just as you would expect. » READ MORE

The Articulating “O’clock”
By DIY Maven
Student at ESAD Strasbourg Nadine Grenier has created this remarkable piece entitled “O’clock”. Made of 500 clock works, the piece spells out a complete sentence every 12 hours. A quote from French poet Jules Romains, the sentence reads: “le temps passe, et chaque fois qu’il y a du temps passe, il y a quelque chose qui s’efface”, which, roughly translated, means “Time passes, and every time the time passes, there is something that fades”. » READ MORE
Totally DIYable Chalkboard Clock!!!
By DIY Maven
Check out this $78 chalkboard clock available at Urban Materials. How easy would this be to replicate? Seriously?! Pop a cheap old clock out of its frame–if it has one–paint it over with chalkboard paint and give its hands a coat of white and you’re done. Okay, so this expensive version also has a magnetic face, but still...a chalkboard clock....how cool is that??!!
P.S. Another alternative = A square of plywood or MDF + some clock works » READ MORE
The Butterfly Clock
By DIY Maven
Susanne Philippson's Butterfly Clock comes in four pieces, three of which are butterflies that seem to have sprung from the clock itself. It's available at Generate ($319) in light green as well as white, black and pink. Time could not be told in a more beautiful way.
The Round Around Clock
By DIY Maven
Although it has the shape of a hockey puck, it's actually a clock. The dial rotates while the red wire indicates the time. Again, it’s not for the obsessive compulsive in that the exact time is a guess. But still...it’s very cool. From Lexicon ($45); via Gizmodo.
Not Your Grandfather’s Grandfather Clock
By DIY Maven
New from Uncommon Goods is this sliver of a Grandfather Clock ($120). Made of pine and finished in a dark walnut stain, the concept puts a modern spin on a traditional–and bulky–piece.
The Clock that Spells Time
By DIY Maven
‘Clock’ by Christiaan Postma is nothing less than extraordinary. Its face consists of over 150 metal bars that move and align as time passes, ultimately spelling out the time. For instance, the word ‘three’ becomes completely legible when it’s exactly 3 o’clock. It then slowly disappears capitulating to ‘four’. As for the minutes...well...you’re on your own. To experience ‘Clock’, check out the video on Dezeen.

The Double Vision Clock
By DIY Maven
For some, this clock might be too much like a visit to the eye doctor’s office; for others, it’s just plain cool! Using red and green transparent disks, the viewer is able to read both the hour an minutes at the same place on the clock’s face. It would certainly make watching the clock at work more interesting. From Perpetual Kid, the 16" in diameter timepiece will set you back about 40 dollars.
Retro Pendulum Wall Clock.
By ChrisjobRetroToGo highlights this twist on a classic design:
"Even if this was just a face, the domed glass face, brushed
aluminium and retro-styled hands and numbers would do enough to catch
the eye. But add to the design that swinging pendulum and you really
have something a little out of the ordinary.
Sized at 19cm (diameter) and available in various colours, it's well priced at just £12.

Warning: This Daliesque wall clock may cause a case of the whirlies–or a discussion of the theory of relativity, which may also cause a case of the whirlies. The 12" timepiece is available through What on Earth for 35 bucks.
Coat Hook Clock
By DIY Maven
Clocks generally don’t multi-task in such a low tech way, but the En Suspend by designer Pascal Taraby does such double duty. The clock + coat hanger is available in white red and black at Design Shop for £52 or about $106; a chrome version can be found at The Conran Shop for $95.

The Projection Clock
By DIY Maven
This projector from Plow & Hearth throws the face of a working clock upon any flat surface. At ten feet, the clock’s face is 3 feet in diameter, whereas the projector itself is only 7" x 6". The clock’s brightness and focus are both adjustable, and at 100 bucks a pop, they even throw in the AAA battery you need to run the thing.
