Like a Roomba, but much cheaper.

If you're tired of sweeping your hard floors all the time, the Dustbunny might be the solution! For 15 bucks and some batteries, the website claims it will roll all over your hard floors and clean up all that dirt and hair that plagues your floors.
Since I'm the owner of 2 cats and one hairy dog, I totally want this. I think I'm going to wait, though, until I get my hardwood (or laminate, we haven't decided quite yet) floors down.

Spring Cleaning Time!
By badbadivyIt's March and in my household that means it's SPRING CLEANING time! Spring cleaning can be tackled in many different ways. It all depends on what sort of person you are. I'm the type of person that likes to dash around my house and clean it all in one day. Others like to tackle one room at a time, or clean for a certain period of time. Whatever you do, make a plan and stick with it! There's nothing worse than having a bunch of half-finished proj » READ MORE
Teach your kids to clean their own rooms
By badbadivy
My daughter Megs was shocked when I told her to go ahead and let her room get messy. Normally, I expect a clean room, and my kids generally comply. But I wanted to take some pictures to teach you guys how to teach your kids to clean their own rooms.
Start them off with a level playing field
Before you can expect your kids to clean their own rooms and keep them clean, it helps to have the rooms set up in a manner that the kids can easily keep t » READ MORE
You said cleaning was a drag, why do you keep writing about it?

My focus on this site is "design on a depleted budget", yet I write about cleaning all the time. One might wonder, what does cleaning have to do with designing when you're po'? Well, grasshopper, it has everything to do with good design.
Cleaning is free and requires very little equipment and no special knowledge. It's not overly physical, and can be done both by the very young and the very old. Clutter and mess makes even the most beautiful a » READ MORE
Clean like a maid!
By badbadivy
Let's talk about cleaning. Cleaning is a drag. I hear there are people out there that actually like to clean, but I am not one of them, even though I used to work as a housecleaner. The good thing about having that job is, I learned to clean very quickly and efficiently. Now, I pass that knowledge along to you, Curbly readers!
The mantra of the company I worked for was top to bottom, left to right. This way you could easily walk into any room a » READ MORE
A little more Dyson love
By malleronVintageSwank has a post gushing about the Dyson animal vacuum and I feel compelled to put my 2-cents in.
First, I don't have the animal model -- I have the original taxi-cab yellow model. I picked it up at Best Buy for around $350. That's a serious chunk of change, especially for a vacuum, and for me at that time it was a small fortune. Indeed, it was the most I'd ever spent on anything and it was caused me a great deal of pain to buy.
But I bought » READ MORE
Cleaning that funky, cloudy glassware
By badbadivyAnybody that has hard water can attest that cloudy glassware can be a major pain. I've always used the standard advice to soak them in warm vinegar, and it works, but not for very long and it always comes back worse. Check out my funky glass:

Yep, that's pretty heinous. I was thinking of getting rid of those glasses and just buying some new when my mother gave me a great tip. Use white toothpaste to scrub the glasses. It will remove the depo » READ MORE
Poll: How Often Do You Clean
By bruno
Sore subject? Maybe. I know some people who sweep and dust their home every single weekend. Other (who shal remain unnamed) are lucky if they pick up their dirty laundry off the floor once a month.
Me? I'm somewhere in between. A clean house makes me feel calm and unburdened, but I don't let keeping it clean become an all-consuming obsession.
How about you?

Upholstery Cleaners?
By kristinirene We have a Todd Oldham for LazBoy couch in a soft/"cotton" or synthetic cotton-y tweed. Now that we are about to move it, I see how dingy the tops of the cushions are. Supposedly this fabric is stain-resistant, but it needs sprucing up. Any ideas for good fabric cleaners? It's Worth The Hype - And the Price

So I'm sure you all have seen the Dyson. The modern styled vacuum that is not your mother’s canister vacuum.

Well of course everyone says, it's a vacuum how much better can it be than ever other vacuum out there....well I was skeptical too, until I got one. I had no idea how dirty I was and now I cannot stop vacuuming. They come in a variety of styles and options. I got the animal which is meant for people who own pets. It does work!! » READ MORE
