Recycled Shopping Cart Chairs
By DIY Maven
You know how shopping carts can get tossed aside--or rolled into ditches--when they get hinkey? Reestore resurrects such cast offs into very cool chairs. They're about $925 US. DIYable? This one wouldn't be easy, but it's certainly something to think about.
DIY Dining Set.
By Chrisjob
Cookie magazine offers this bright idea: a collection of mismatched dining chairs can be easily united with a simple can of paint and a weekend. Perfect for thrift store and garage sale finds...plus, it can make chairs you'd never consider putting in your dining room mouthwatering. And, it doesn't hurt that they're orange.
If the wood tones are similar enough, you can leave the bottom part of the legs unpainted for some excellent contrast.
Upcycle: Discarded Restaurant Chair Reupholstery
By ModHomeEcTeacher
If you can find a set of sturdy restaurant chair frames, with or without torn vinyl, negotiate a price and load'em up. A local furniture consignment shop had these four stackable sturdy chairs in the corner of the basement. I stripped off the black vinyl from the seats and the upholstered panels that make up the front and back of the seat backs. To discover how to convert restaurant rubbish to kitchen table darlings.... » READ MORE

I suppose I should just look for a used aeron, but I wanted to get some recommendations.
Has anyone used or sat in this chair from CB2? I am also not a fan of the ikea work chairs.

Urban steps it up a notch
By beccajoNew from Urban Outfitters, some mod furniture offerings!

The LULU chair, in a brown bird print or green leaf. $380 plus $80 shipping, not bad for less than $500!
Next up, Jonathan Adler knock offs (good ones at that!).

Super cute lamps! Owl, $24, and horse, $36.
I'd for sure go with a plain lampshade...although the birdies are cute, it'd be a little *too* much if you ask me.
And lastly....some Danish Modern Knockoffs!

A stool for Beccas!
By beccajoWell, I don't know if it's just for Beccas, but I found this Becca stool and I think I need to have it.
Made of quick-growing bamboo, and designed by Anthony Marschak, it can be stacked as a modern-looking bookcase, or used as a side table.
Now, this Becca Bar stool from Target, I'm not loving. Sorry Target!

Jeans Chair....am I crazy?
By beccajoI have the lovely TULLSTA Ikea chair. It's not high design, but it's light, comfy, and it was a steal at $99.
It is however, BEIGE. And while beige is a fun word to say over and over (try it, trust me), it's not the best if, say, you have pets or kids, or if you happened to position your chair under a window that had some plants in the windowsill that subsequently leaked on the chair. Yup.

Reupholstering Dining Chairs - Part 2 of 2
By celeeI'm finally done! I purchased a playful pattern that ties colors that I have around the house . It's an outdoor fabric that's waterproof so hopefully, droppings will not stain too badly. For the cushion, I used a 1" high density foam and extra loft batting. I have one down and another one to go. Then, I'm off to find my second set!

Reupholstering Dining Chairs - Part 1 of 2
By celeeI was really happy to see on the cover of Metropolitan Home the headline, "The Mix is In". This theme goes hand-in-hand with my latest project of refinishing & reupholstering old dining room chairs. I am planning to replace my existing chairs with two mis-matched sets that will share the same uniform color & fabric. Having a hard time visualizing... come along!
A couple weeks ago, I found these on Craigslist for $20. As you can see, they were in » READ MORE
Chair Refinishing Project
By frangritThis project is from last year, when I lived in a teeny-tiny apartment in New York City's East Village. Nonetheless, it's worthwhile endeavor if you find yourself with some dingy old chairs in need of some refinishing love.
In this case, I got the chairs from my grandmother. Though they look kind of cool in the photo, they were actually pretty dirty, and the fabric was stained and smelly. Dan and I decided to repaint the chairs and cover the seats » READ MORE
